Look Nº 884 - Don't put your blame on me!

Hoje, em defesa da minha honra:

Chegou o momento de falar. Não por gosto, mas por dever. Porque, quando a verdade é distorcida e o meu nome é atirado ao chão por quem sempre viveu de expedientes, o silêncio deixa de ser uma virtude. 

 

Today, in defence of my honour:

The time has come to speak out. Not because I want to, but because I must. Because when the truth is distorted and my name is dragged through the mud by those who have always lived by their wits, silence ceases to be a virtue.

Quero esclarecer, antes de mais, como funcionam os posts mais populares do mês aqui no blog. O que aparece na barra lateral - no computador - não é escolha minha. Não sou eu que escolho o que destacar. O que ali aparece destacado é estatística pura, ou seja os posts mais lidos pelos leitores do blog no último mês. São os cliques, as visitas, os acessos, tudo é registado e ordenado pela plataforma onde este blog está alojado. Não há mistério ou manipulação da minha parte.

First of all, I would like to clarify how the most popular posts of the month work here on the blog. What appears in the sidebar – on the computer – is not my choice. I am not the one who chooses what to highlight. What appears there is pure statistics, i.e. the posts most read by blog readers in the last month. It's the clicks, the visits, the hits, everything is recorded and sorted by the platform where this blog is hosted. There is no mystery or manipulation by me.

E se há quem ache estranho que posts antigos voltem ao topo, convido a olharem para o widget das bandeiras dos países que surgem para quem visualiza o blog em computador. Sim, tenho leitores espalhados pelo mundo inteiro, as visualizações vêm, em grande parte, de fora de Portugal. Que culpa tenho eu que outros países gostem de revisitar publicações antigas? É um blog, as pessoas leem o que querem! Mas que é estranho que sejam sempre os mesmos posts antigos, é! Não tenho explicação para isso a não ser a matemática! Haja paciência!!! Porque manteria algo que aparentemente está a prejudicar a minha imagem? Eu poderia retirar o widget dos posts populares, mas não o vou fazer, porque não tenho de o fazer! Mas vou estar atenta ao que se passa!

 

 And if anyone finds it strange that old posts are back at the top, I invite you to look at the widget with the country flags that appears for those viewing the blog on a computer. Yes, I have readers all over the world, and most of the views come from outside Portugal. Why should I be blamed for other countries liking to revisit old posts? It's a blog, not a soap opera; people read what they want! But it is strange that it's always the same old posts, isn't it? I have no explanation for this other than mathematics!  Have patience!!! Why would I keep something that is apparently damaging my image? I could remove the popular posts widget, but I won't because I don't have to! But I'll keep an eye on what's going on!

Quanto ao assunto que, pelos vistos, incomoda alguns corações sensíveis: não tenho cão, nem pretendo ter. O cão que têm visto é do meu tio. Sempre fiquei com ele quando vai de férias e não sou eu que escolho a data das férias. Não era agora que ia deixar de o fazer só porque alguém resolveu embirrar com a ideia de eu ter um cão em casa! Não mudei, continuo igual - quem mudou a narrativa foram os que vivem de suposições e achismos! A pouca família que tenho devo preservá-la! Nivea, se me quiseres identificar nas tuas publicações do Facebook, seja de que tipo for, estás autorizada! Eu não tenho de mudar e de me auto-censurar só porque há quem se ofenda, quem fantasie, quem efabule narrativas!

 

 As for the subject that seems to bother some sensitive hearts: I don't have a dog, nor do I intend to have one. The dog you have seen belongs to my uncle. I have always looked after it when he goes on holiday, and I am not the one who chooses the holiday dates. I am not going to stop doing so now just because someone has taken issue with the idea of me having a dog in my house! I have not changed, I am still the same – it is those who live on assumptions and guesswork who have changed the narrative! I must protect the small family I have. Nivea, if you want to identify me in your Facebook posts, whatever they may be, you have my permission! I don't have to change and censor myself just because there are people who take offense, who fantasize, who fabricate narratives!

Caluniar ou ofender os outros com base em mentiras nunca fez parte de mim. Fazer jogo sujo, muito menos. Coincidências existem - e eu que o diga - só que não vou moldar a minha vida para caber no desconforto efabulado dos outros. Já me chateei com um familiar para poupar o incómodo de terceiros. Não volto a fazê-lo. A minha consciência está tranquila. Não ando de casa em casa, nem ao telefone a desacreditar quem quer que seja. Vivo a minha vida, com transparência, integridade e verdade.

Slandering or offending others based on lies has never been part of who I am. Playing dirty, even less so. Coincidences exist – and I should know – but I'm not going to mould my life to fit the imagined discomfort of others. I've already upset a family member to spare others the inconvenience. I won't do it again. My conscience is clear. I don't go from house to house or on the phone discrediting anyone. I live my life with transparency, honesty and truth.

Mais uma vez, quem não gosta do conteúdo do meu blog é absolutamente livre de não o visitar. Ninguém é obrigado a ler o que escrevo. Isto até se está a tornar ridículo! Mas, por um acto final de paciência, mas também por respeito por mim mesma: Chega de deixar que as vozes baixas tentem abafar o que é claro. A minha honra, a minha verdade e a pessoa correcta que sempre fui está intacta. Quem a tenta atingir com histórias completamente descabidas de sentido, só revela a própria falta dela! Eu, que não aceitei ir para a cama com um homem em troca de um emprego e preferi continuar a tirar cafés, ia agora perder tempo com histórias da carochinha sem sentido! Devem-se achar a última bolacha do pacote!

Once again, anyone who doesn't like the content of my blog is absolutely free not to visit it. No one is obliged to read what I write. This is getting ridiculous! But, as a final act of patience, but also out of respect for myself: Enough of letting quiet voices try to drown out what is clear. My honour, my truth and the decent person I have always been are intact. Those who try to attack me with completely nonsensical stories only reveal their own lack of honour! I, who refused to sleep with a man in exchange for a job and preferred to continue serving coffee, was now going to waste my time with meaningless games! You are not the last cookie in the package!

 Como banda sonora deste post, escolhi a canção "Human" de Rag'n'Bone Man. É uma canção poderosa, um grito honesto de alguém que está a ser injustamente acusado, responsabilizado por problemas, erros e frustações que não lhe pertecem. O refrão resume tudo:

"Não ponhas a tua culpa em mim"

É uma canção sobre humanidade, somos todos falíveis, imperfeitos, mas ninguém deve carregar nos ombros culpas alheias e os erros dos outros. Eu não sou perfeita, mas sou verdadeira e não sou culpada do que me acusam. Distorcer os factos é algo que não me assiste. As pessoas devem olhar-se no espelho. Eu não posso começar a viver com pinças, nem fazer o que sempre fiz, só porque agora alguém se incomoda, ou se sente desconfortável comigo a viver a minha vida, como sempre a vivi! Que paranóia esta!

As the soundtrack for this post, I chose the song ‘Human’ by Rag'n'Bone Man. It is a powerful song, a honest cry from someone who is being unfairly accused, blamed for problems, mistakes and frustrations that are not his fault. The chorus sums it all up:

‘Don't put your blame on me’

It is a song about humanity, we are all fallible, imperfect, but no one should carry the guilt of others and the mistakes of others on their shoulders. I am not perfect, but I am true and I'm not guilty of what I am accused of. Distorting the facts is not something that suits me. People should look in the mirror. I can't start living with kid gloves, or stop doing what I've always done, just because now someone is bothered or feels uncomfortable with me living my life the way I've always lived it! How paranoid is that!

 Para quem sempre me conheceu, até parece impossível que acreditem no que me acusam, mas eu sei que se fazem lavagens cerebrais muito bem feitas. Para quem já me julgou e considerou culpada nada do que possa dizer será suficiente. Vão dizer que estou a mentir, tal como diz a letra da canção - "maybe I'm lying " - deixo ao vosso critério, não estou aqui para agradar a ninguém! Quem não tem argumentos, encontra na calúnia e mentira a única arma. A verdade incomoda mais do que qualquer mentira.

  Procurem algo mais elevado que o meu blog, mais ao vosso nível...

 

For those who have always known me, it seems impossible to believe the accusations against me, but I know that brainwashing can be very effective. For those who have already judged me and found me guilty, nothing I say will be enough. They will say that I am lying, just like the lyrics of the song say - “maybe I'm lying” - I leave it up to you to decide, I'm not here to please anyone! Those who lack arguments find slander and lies to be their only weapon. The truth is more uncomfortable than any lie.
