Hello! Welcome!
There’s a delay between when I intended to publish this post and when I’m actually doing so—why? Because I was actually debating whether or not to publish it, given the sensitive nature of the subject, as you’ll soon realize! But to explain that, I need to introduce you to the location where I am for this photo shoot. So, it’s the National Museum of Conímbriga. Conímbriga was a city of the Roman Empire located in Portugal, just a few kilometers from the city of Coimbra. Objectively speaking, these are the ruins of that city. But I didn’t come here to talk to you about archaeological finds! What I really wanted was to be in a Roman setting because I’m going to talk to you about a Shakespeare play: “Julius Caesar”! Just to remind you of your history classes, Julius Caesar was one of the most important and powerful military commanders of the Ancient Roman Republic, eventually becoming an absolute dictator!
“Beware the Ides of March!”—That’s how, in Shakespeare’s play, Julius Caesar received the threat to his life. A threat he didn’t give the slightest thought to! That’s exactly how I received it, too—in exactly the same way! Which only proves that what I’ve been tirelessly denouncing is the truth!
Now I must explain to you what the Ides of March are. The Roman calendar was different from today’s; it was a lunar calendar. The Ides of March correspond to the 74th day of the Roman calendar; the date falls on March 15 and is an important date, both religiously and as a milestone, since it marks the deadline for settling debts. It was on March 15, 44 B.C., that Julius Caesar was assassinated in a conspiracy with 23 stab wounds. It was also in 49 B.C. that Julius Caesar took control of Rome as absolute dictator!
March 15, 44 B.C., the date Julius Caesar was assassinated—in the case of my threat, it applies to someone else: my mother! She was born on the 15th, in the year 49 of the last century. But I consider this threat to apply to me as well! So if anything bad happens to me, you can be sure it’s not a matter of chance or fate: But the most serious thing is that my mother has already suffered a sudden illness!
There is a strong desire to keep me silent—and preferably to shut down my blog. The powerful secular institutions I speak of have a great deal to lose in terms of prestige and could not withstand a national scandal. The pillars of these institutions would crumble just like this ruined city where I find myself!
In short, if anything happens to me, my mother, or my property, know that it is not a matter of chance but the work of criminals! The soundtrack for this post is, once again, a song by Muse: “Citizen Erased,” because I know that's what a lot of people want!
