Look Nº 817 - Live to Tell

I hope you're having a wonderful Easter holiday! This is a special post, the season demands it! I was looking for somewhere to display my cross-stitch painting, the title of which is inspired by Madonna's song "Live to Tell". As I'm from Figueira da Foz, I thought the Dr Santos Rocha Museum would be the most suitable place. So come and join me for a guided tour!

As you know, my blog is an extension of my life, a platform where I share my experiences through art. Each post is a story of my life, a unique expression of my being!

Recently, my cross-stitch painting that I'm going to show you took me to explore this museum, and as I wandered through the galleries, I was immersed in a sea of inspiration. Each work of art, each historical artefact, told its own story, just as I wanted to tell mine. It was then that I realised that this would be the perfect home for my painting, in this atmosphere of art and culture!

"I have a tale to tellSometimes it gets so hard to hide it well"

But this visit is about more than just finding a place for my art. It is a reflection on my own life story, a story marked by challenges and overcoming them. The phrase "Live to Tell" takes on a deeper meaning when I look back and see all the obstacles I've faced. Just like Madonna in the music video for this song, I found the strength and courage to tell my own story, even in the darkest moments!

It is especially significant that this visit to this museum in my city takes place during Easter, a time of renewal and resurrection. Just as Easter celebrates victory over adversity, my painting and my story represent my own journey of struggle and triumph. It is a celebration of life, art and human resilience.

And so, with hope in my heart and the cross-stitch picture in my hands, I'm ready to take the next step on this journey of LIVE TO TELL!

"I was not ready for the fallToo blind to see the writing on the wall"

In this painting, each stitch, meticulously crafted by hand, tells a story of patience, skill and devotion to art. It's a piece that transcends time and space, connecting with the essence of Madonna's music and the rich tapestries on display in the museum! The history of this embroidery can be seen here in this post!

Now I have a challenge for you: I've been asked to change my hair colour. I'm proposing 2 changes: blonde hair compared to brown hair. And blonde hair compared to black hair. Question: which hair colour did you like the most, blonde, brown or black?

Todas as obras expostas fazem parte do espólio do Museu Dr. Santos Rocha.

This post is not just about exhibiting a piece of art, but about sharing a part of my life with my readers, friends and those who share the same love for creative expression and the cultural heritage of Figueira da Foz. All the works on display are part of the collection of the Dr Santos Rocha Museum. And, in the end, the crown of thorns is transformed into a crown of marvellous flowers! Happy Easter to everyone!

    1. I also really like this Madonna song, and even more so in this live performance! I like its message and appeal! As for my hair colour, I've already had my hair coloured in other colours and I like to see myself blonde, so I'm not going to change it!!!

  3. Oh, you are Art! I have to admit the dark blonde hair is really nice..but you look lovely in each color. Such an amazing photo shoot. I love that Madonna song, as well. So great to see you in this lovely outfit and donning those flowers in your hair. I hope your Easter was great. Mine was a bit damp and a chill in the wind, but it was great not to have to cook and of course, I got to watch an Easter Egg hunt and some confetti egg throwing. Needless to say, I am glad I am home. Thank you so much for this divine post. All the best to the beautiful you and the art that you bring us❤️

    1. Wow thank you so much for this comment, it made my day! You're always so nice with your comments and I love it! I admit I've never seen an Easter egg hunt, here in Portugal we live Easter in a more Christian way, although they are starting to do these egg hunts with children too and not teaching the true spirit of Easter!

  6. You look like a work of art yourself Marisa!
How beautiful you are posing next to those paintings in that feminine dress.
Lovely museum and paintings....and your outfit is so glam and elegant.
Simply perfect styling for this place.
As for the hair colour changes, I think you look best with blonde hair. You should also try red. It might match your eyes and fair skin beautifully. I think you should stay away from black hair, especially jet black hair. On the other hand, a nice brunette shade, might suit you just fine. But I can only really imagine you as a blonde! Maybe it's just a habit.
Happy Easter weekend (if you're celebrating)!

    1. I've actually had my hair dyed other colours, and red too, but the colour I like best is blonde! Maybe because I grew up blonde, so I think it's my natural colour! Wow, what a lovely comment you made Ivana, I love it! You're one of a kind!

    Beijinhos!!!

  16. Hi love! I am feeling for brown as I've yet to see the color on you. Black can be a little bit too strong but it's edgy so I'm here for it too if you choose to go that path! I didn't know you're a talented cross-stitch artist. That's amazing. Hope to see more of your wonderful art. As always, coming here makes me happy. So nice to see you in your classic feminine attire <3 Sending you a lot of love <3
