COMEMORAÇÃO DO DIA DO PAI
Olá! Bem-vindos!
FATHER'S DAY CELEBRATION
Hello! Welcome! This week, on Thursday to be precise, Portugal celebrates Father's Day. So, I decided to write a short story about a conversation between two fathers. To understand the context of this short story, I have to take a trip back in time, as this story was written a few years ago. It is a very entertaining social and political critique!
A few years ago, I applied for a job at a local council through a public competition. In Portugal, these types of competitions are a complete joke, because what they really want is to employ friends and family members of local councillors.
The mayor's daughter also applied for this competition, and of course she was the one who was selected! Later, I also learned that the vice-mayor's daughter was also selected in a tailor-made competition, which was fraudulent! In fact, the daughters were exempted from doing an internship and were immediately hired as permanent staff.
So, this short story is about a conversation between the Mayor and his Vice Mayor. In this conversation, they decide on the details of hiring their daughters. It is, of course, a satirical conversation, in which I ridicule local politicians.
EU É QUE SOU O PRESIDENTE
I AM THE PRESIDENT
THE END

That's how those in positions of power in Portugal decide! I hope you enjoyed this Father's Day short story about how they do everything to spoil their children! This story was written to be published in a newspaper on Father's Day, but it never saw the light of day, until today!

As the soundtrack for this post, I chose the song by Depeche Mode: ‘Everything Counts’, which I think needs no explanation, just listen to it.

Olá! Bem-vindos!
Hello! Welcome! It's raining, storm Ingrid is setting in. It's impossible to leave the house. I'm feeling nostalgic and my desire to do something productive is close to zero! Apart from a hot cup of tea, I feel like taking a trip back in time. But how? I know! I'm going to take several trips back in time with my box of old photos, you know, those photos from before the digital age? That's right! I had no idea that photography would become so important in my life!
I would like to introduce you to the cutest pet I ever had: my dog Bolinhas, who is now in dog heaven. He was a very spoilt dog and was the first dog to live indoors and be treated like a real pet where I live. At the time, we were heavily criticised for this, as until then dogs lived outside the house and their only job was to guard the house.
My young Bolinhas, in the first photo, and in the second, a few months before going to doggy heaven!
This is probably my favourite photo. I was about 35 years old and going through my most revolutionary period. I call this photo Marisa Lion and I have a large print of it on the wall of my living room. It's not just a photo, but everything I was at the time: a warrior!
The beginnings of my revolutionary period are evident in these photos. This is a student demonstration, around 1990/1, in front of the Assembly of the Republic. We were fighting against the increase in university tuition fees. These photos must have remained in my subconscious, because later I embroidered, in cross-stitch, a large demonstration in that same place, and I have already told the story here.
My dream was to be a platinum blonde, lol, and I went for it, but it went wrong, my hair couldn't take the damage, but it's still my dream! Lol!
I also really like this photo, it represents Marisa the professional. This photo was printed on all the letters I wrote, whether to apply for jobs, to make complaints, or even to report abuses of power!

And last but not least, this is perhaps the most mysterious photo I have ever taken of myself. I think I managed to capture my soul, perhaps what is called psychography in photography.
I hope you enjoyed this journey through time via my photographs. So much time has passed and so much to say and learn!
Story of my life!
The song I chose is perhaps the psychography of my life. In simple terms, psychography is the phenomenon whereby a higher intelligence, or God, or a computer, as in Simulation Theory, “dictates” as if the person writing were reading from a teleprompter, or writing what these entities dictate to them. I think that when David Fonseca wrote this song, ‘Someone that cannot love,’ he was in this transcendental state!

Olá! Bem-vindos, meus caros amigos e leitores!
Hello! Welcome, my dear friends and readers! These are the photos taken on my birthday, even though I have already published my birthday post. But since this was truly my birthday and this was the outfit I wore, I want this post to be a special one too. Special, not so much in an artistic sense, but in the message I want to convey. So I'm going to tell a story from my life that I haven't had the opportunity to tell yet.
I was considered a threat to national security, or to rephrase that more accurately, I was considered a threat to the security of the system! A system that is nothing more than a DEMO-cracy, or to put it bluntly, a rotten democracy! Anyone who dares to behave differently from the herd is branded forever.
So, what I have to tell you goes back to 2006. That year, I lost my job. To ensure that people are not left financially unprotected, the State pays unemployment benefit while they look for a new job. In my case, I was entitled to a year and a half of benefits. So far, so good, but the problem was that in that year, the government decided to change the rules for the unemployed, which left me completely outraged. I'll tell you why!
Marisa

For those who are curious, here is a copy of the letter I sent to the Prime Minister:
10/06/2007
Marisa
👍👍👍

José Sócrates, the Prime Minister at the time, is now on trial for corruption, money laundering, and tax fraud, having already been remanded in custody in a case that has been dragging on in the courts for 10 years. For the soundtrack to this post, I chose this song by Michael Jackson: “Smooth Criminal.” I should add that at the time, because of this and other complaints I made, coincidentally, someone hacked into my computer and deleted everything I had stored in its memory, which was quite embarrassing for various authorities in this country. As a result, I was left with no evidence of anything except what I had photocopied and the postal records. Another smooth criminal in my story, there are others who are masked and others who do not honor the cassocks they wear! To all these people goes my
👎👎👎
And, as Michael Jackson asks if a certain Annie is okay after an attack, I remain so after many cowardly attacks and character assassination because I was not supposed to know what I know:
👍👍👍

Olá! Bem-vindos, meus caros amigos e leitores!
Hello! Welcome, my dear friends and readers! On my birthday, I went to spend a few days at a hotel. I chose a historic hotel, which is a national landmark in the history of hospitality in Portugal. It is the Hotel Palace of Curia. Located in the Curia Thermal Park, it was built between 1922 and 1926. The hotel is characterised by an eclecticism of forms and ornamentation with many Art Nouveau elements. The interior was designed in a modern style with a medicinal aspect provided by the nearby thermal baths. This hotel competed with the best hotels in the capital and even with European hotels! Now that I have introduced the hotel, come with me on a historical journey!
Alexandre Almeida was a visionary man. He was the first hotel industrialist in Portugal, left his mark on the industry and developed tourism in Portugal. Alexandre Almeida conceived this hotel after making several study trips to the Côte D'Azur, Italy and the east coast of the United States. He surrounded himself with the best architect of the time, who was also the architect of the Portuguese Royal House and had won many awards, to develop the project.
In the 1920s, this hotel was the venue for many elite parties. It was also the setting for films. Many writers took refuge here to write their literary works. Between 2005 and 2006, it underwent extensive renovation. Currently, Alexandre Almeida's hotel chain is run by the third generation, the founder's grandchildren.
It was in this historic setting that I spent my birthday. The charm of the hotel made me forget who I really am for a few days. I didn't want to celebrate my birthday with cake and candles and people singing happy birthday. I had no reason to do so, or I couldn't find any reason within myself to do so. So, as always, I spent it with the most important person in my life: my mother!
The hotel offered me a bottle of champagne, but I declined, partly because I cannot drink alcohol, but mainly because there was no reason to pop open a bottle of champagne. Better days will come, I am sure, the days of TRUTH! The truth may take time, but I am patient.
