 Olá! Bem-vindos, meus caros amigos e leitores! Esqueci-me completamente que estamos no mês de Outubro! Sabem o que isso significa? Não? Como assim? É o aniversário do blog!!! Como foi possível esquecer-me deste pormenor desta importância, que objectivamente, não é um pormenor, mas um pormaior! 

Hello! Welcome, my dear friends and readers! I completely forgot that it's October! Do you know what that means? No? How come? It's the blog's anniversary!!! How could I have forgotten such an important detail, which, objectively speaking, is not a detail, but a major event!

Minhas caras e meus caros, o blog perfaz a bonita idade de 13 anos! Em Portugal, 13 é o número do azar, mas também é um número de sorte, depende da perspectiva de cada um! Ao jogo, 13 é número de azar, na religião católica, 13 foi o dia escolhido por Nossa Senhora para descer dos céus e vir à Terra, mais concretamente a Fátima - Portugal - Portanto, 13, para mim, é um número de sorte! 

My dear friends, the blog is now 13 years old! In Portugal, 13 is considered an unlucky number, but it is also a lucky number, depending on your perspective! In gambling, 13 is an unlucky number, but in Catholicism, 13 was the day chosen by Our Lady to descend from heaven and come to Earth, more specifically to Fátima, Portugal. Therefore, for me, 13 is a lucky number!

Pensando neste número e no título que dei a este post: Follow me (Sigam-me) resolvi, celebrar o aniversário do blog, dando-vos 13 fortes razões para me seguirem, passo a enunciá-las:

Look Nº 903 - Aristides Sousa Mendes

Olá! Bem-vindos, meus caros amigos e leitores! Há muito tempo que quero dedicar um post à história de um grande português: Aristides de Sousa Mendes, para isso precisava de ir visitar a sua Casa Museu, em Carregal do Sal (Portugal). Mas quem foi esta personalidade tão distinta, perguntam vocês? 

Hello! Welcome, my dear friends and readers! For a long time, I have wanted to dedicate a post to the story of a great Portuguese man: Aristides de Sousa Mendes. To do so, I needed to visit his House Museum in Carregal do Sal (Portugal). But who was this distinguished figure, you may ask? 

Aristides S. Mendes foi um diplomata português. Foi cônsul de Portugal em Bordéus, na época em que a França foi invadida pelos alemães, isto durante a II Grande Guerra Mundial. Contrariando as ordens do então ditador português, Aristides, passou cerca de 30.000 vistos a refugiados judeus, permitindo, deste modo, escaparem ao horror do holocausto através de Portugal e, assim, fugirem para os EUA.

Aristides S. Mendes was a Portuguese diplomat. He was Portugal's consul in Bordeaux at the time France was invaded by the Germans during World War II. Contrary to the orders of the then Portuguese dictator, Aristides issued around 30,000 visas to Jewish refugees, allowing them to escape the horror of the Holocaust via Portugal and flee to the United States.

Este acto de humanidade permitiu salvar 30.000 vidas, este gesto de grande altruísmo e abnegação não lhe valeu a glória e a honra que só os grandes heróis merecem. O ditador português remeteu-o ao esquecimento e à penúria juntamente com a sua família. Morreu pobre e ostracizado, tudo por ter ousado desafiar as ordens do ditador. Aristides só fez o que o seu coração e consciência lhe ditaram! Escolher ser pela vida!

 

This act of humanity saved 30,000 lives, but this gesture of great altruism and self-sacrifice did not earn him the glory and honour that only great heroes deserve. The Portuguese dictator consigned him and his family to oblivion and poverty. He died poor and ostracised, all for daring to defy the dictator's orders. Aristides only did what his heart and conscience told him to do! He chose to be for life!

A sua casa encontrava-se em ruínas, foi reconstruída e a memória de Aristides reabilitada, sendo considerado um herói nacional, isto a título póstumo. As obras realizadas foram custeadas pelos netos americanos dos judeus que Aristides salvou. Este post era para ter sido fotografado na sua Casa Museu, mas reconheço, não por Aristides, mas pelas acções recentes do povo Judeu, que me recusei a fazer essa visita, talvez numa outra altura, quando a paz estiver mais consolidada entre judeus e palestinianos.

His house was in ruins, but it was rebuilt and Aristides' memory was restored, with him being considered a national hero, posthumously. The work was funded by the American grandchildren of the Jews that Aristides saved. This post was supposed to have been photographed at his House Museum, but I admit that, not because of Aristides, but because of the recent actions of the Jewish people, I refused to make that visit, perhaps at another time, when peace is consolidated between Jews and Palestinians.

A vida coloca-nos muitos desafios, alguns definem a nossa vida por completo, mudando o caminho que tinhamos idealizado para nós. Mas se essa renúncia for feita por amor ao próximo e pelo que achamos que fica bem com a nossa consciência, então vale a pena correr esse risco, ainda que o preço possa ser muito alto. A história se encarregará de fazer a sua justiça!

Life presents us with many challenges, some of which define our entire lives, changing the path we had envisioned for ourselves. But if this sacrifice was made out of love for others and for what we believe is right in our conscience, then it is worth taking that risk, even if the price was very high. History will take care of justice!
 

 

Como banda sonora para este post, escolhi a canção de The Cranberries, "Zombie". Alerto para o facto de o video ser violento, contem imagens de várias guerras, mas dá maior ênfase a imagens do filme a Lista de Schindler. Filme este que conta a história de um homem que salvou milhares de judeus da morte, tal como Aristides Sousa Mendes. Uma reflexão sobre as principais vítimas da guerra! E, de como a vida de Aristides também merecia um filme!

As the soundtrack for this post, I chose the song ‘Zombie’ by The Cranberries. Please be aware that the video is violent and contains images from various wars, but it focuses mainly on images from the film Schindler's List. This film tells the story of a man who saved thousands of Jews from death, just like Aristides Sousa Mendes. A reflection on the main victims of war! And how Aristides' life also deserved a film!

Look Nº 902 - The End of the Season!

 Olá!  Bem-vindos, meus caros amigos e leitores! Como já devem ter percebido, hoje não há looks da Semana! Oh! Eu sei que vocês adoram, mas esta semana foi-me completamente impossível! Porquê? Por várias razões, que eu passo já a explicar!

Hello! Welcome, my dear friends and readers! As you may have noticed, there are no outfits of the week today! Oh! I know you love them, but this week it was completely impossible for me! Why? For several reasons, which I will explain now!

Então as razões são as seguintes:

- Porque andei muito atarefada e não tive tempo para fotografar!

- Porque tenho muitas fotos tiradas de looks e precisava de libertar o arquivo!

- Porque tem estado muito calor, mas as previsões meteorológicas para a próxima semana, dizem-nos que vem lá a chuva e, como podem constatar eu estou calçada de sandálias! 

  

So, the reasons are as follows:

- Because I've been very busy and haven't had time to take photos!

- Because I have lots of photos of outfits and needed to free up some space in my archive!

- Because it's been very hot, but the weather forecast for next week says it's going to rain and, as you can see, I'm wearing sandals!

Não sei se já repararam, mas o blog tem estado com muitas visualizações, tenho dias de ter mais de 150.000 acessos. O curioso é que o interesse destas visitas  é sobretudo para posts do ano de 2018 e não sobre os posts mais recentes. Não nego que gostaria de atingir os 2 milhões de acessos, esse é até o objectivo do blog para este ano. Faltam cerca de 2 meses e meio para o final do ano, acham que vou conseguir?

 

I don't know if you've noticed, but the blog has been getting a lot of views, with some days seeing over 150,000 hits. The curious thing is that these visits are mainly for posts from 2018 and not for the most recent posts. I won't deny that I would like to reach 2 million hits; that's actually the blog's goal for this year. There are about two and a half months left until the end of the year. Do you think I'll make it?

Como sempre, o interesse vem sobretudo da Ásia, com Singapura à cabeça dos que mais acessam este blog, consolidando com larga vantagem, cerca de 40%, a sua presença aqui, e destacando-se cada vez mais dos restante países! Devo ser uma estrela em Singapura Lol! Quanto ao objectivo para este ano estou com os dedos cruzados, desejem-me sorte!

 

 As always, interest comes mainly from Asia, with Singapore leading the way in terms of visits to this blog, consolidating its presence here with a large lead of around 40% and increasingly standing out from the other countries! I must be a star in Singapore, lol! As for this year's goal, I'm keeping my fingers crossed, so wish me luck!

Look Nº 901 - Set Fire to the Rain

Olá! Bem-vindos, meus caros amigos e leitores! Não sei se sabem, mas sou uma pessoa interessada pelas questões levantadas pela Física Quântica. Dizem, os estudiosos, que é uma bizarria as descobertas que têm sido feitas. Para quem não sabe, a Física Quântica representa o estudo do mundo muito pequeno de que é formada a matéria, isto grosso modo! Não sou uma entendida, apenas uma curiosa! Já vos falei aqui no entrelaçamento quântico e, o que ele me inspira! 

Hello! Welcome, my dear friends and readers! I don't know if you know, but I am interested in the questions raised by quantum physics. Scholars say that the discoveries that have been made are bizarre. For those who don't know, quantum physics is the study of the very small world that makes up matter, roughly speaking! I'm not an expert, just curious! I've already talked to you here about quantum entanglement and what it inspires in me! 

Neste post, pretendo falar-vos de uma outra experiência que foi feita, nesse mundo do muito, muito pequeno - e podem acrescentar muitos mais à frase para descrever esse mundo das partículas ínfimas, o mundo subatómico, como átomos e fotões. Eu prometo que esta conversa vai ser interessante! 

In this post, I want to tell you about another experiment that was conducted in this world of the very, very, very small — and you can add many more words "very" to that phrase to describe this world of tiny particles, the subatomic world, such as atoms and photons. I promise this conversation will be interesting! 

Ora, numa dessas experiências, os cientistas, chegaram à conclusão bizarra que um determinado acontecimento no presente pode influenciar o passado! Estranho não vos parece? Teria mais lógica, se é que a lógica pode ter algum sentido neste mundo pequenino, que o presente influenciasse o futuro. Bem ao estilo do filme Regresso ao Futuro.

 

Now, in one of these experiments, scientists came to the bizarre conclusion that a certain event in the present can influence the past! Strange, isn't it? It would make more sense, if logic can have any meaning in this tiny world, for the present to influence the future. Just like in the film Back to the Future.

A este fenómeno os cientistas chamaram de retrocausalidade quântica.  Trata-se confirmar que o estado de uma partícula no presente pode influenciar o estado da partícula no passado, como que se o passado estivesse vivo. Resumindo, o presente parece influenciar o passado da partícula, pondo em causa o que conhecemos por fenómeno de causa-efeito, que nos remete para o futuro. Tudo isto levanta questões relativamente à variável tempo! Estranho, bizarro, paradoxal! Isto é difícil de perceber e ainda mais de explicar. Mas eu dou-vos exemplo! Ou vários!

Scientists have called this phenomenon quantum retrocausality. It is a matter of confirming that the state of a particle in the present can influence the state of the particle in the past, as if the past were alive. In short, the present seems to influence the particle's past, calling into question what we know as the cause-and-effect phenomenon, which takes us into the future. All this raises questions regarding the time variable!. Strange, bizarre, paradoxical! But let me give you an example!

Este fenómeno pode ser explicado com um post do meu blog, que conta um episódio da minha vida e da minha luta, podem rever o post aqui. Trata-se de um acontecimento no presente, que alterou o passado de uma academia universitária, é claro que isto é ficção, mas não deixa de ser um acontecimento excepcional. Quando lancei o fogo às minhas fitas académicas na Porta Férrea da Universidade de Coimbra. Imaginem que este acontecimento no presente alterou o passado da academia. Como? No passado começou a ser realizada a festa dos estudantes, que se passou a chamar, nada mais, nada menos, que a festa da Queima das Fitas, tudo porque eu as queimei no presente! Genial! Acabei de provar mais uma Teoria Quântica! E a mulher retratada na calçada da Porta Férrea sou eu!!!

 

This phenomenon can be explained in a post on my blog, which recounts an episode from my life and my struggle. You can read the post here. It is about an event in the present that changed the past of a university academy. Of course, this is fiction, but it is nonetheless an exceptional event. When I set fire to my academic ribbons at the Porta Férrea (Iron Gate) of the University of Coimbra. Imagine that this event in the present changed the past of the academy. How? In the past, a student party began to be held, which came to be called, nothing more, nothing less, than the Ribbon Burning Party, all because I burned them in the present! Brilliant! I have just proven another Quantum Theory!  And the woman pictured on the pavement at Porta Férrea (Iron Gate) is me!!!
