Olá! Bem-vindos, meus caros amigos e leitores! Não sei se sabem, mas sou uma pessoa interessada pelas questões levantadas pela Física Quântica. Dizem, os estudiosos, que é uma bizarria as descobertas que têm sido feitas. Para quem não sabe, a Física Quântica representa o estudo do mundo muito pequeno de que é formada a matéria, isto grosso modo! Não sou uma entendida, apenas uma curiosa! Já vos falei aqui no entrelaçamento quântico e, o que ele me inspira!

Hello! Welcome, my dear friends and readers! I don't know if you know, but I am interested in the questions raised by quantum physics. Scholars say that the discoveries that have been made are bizarre. For those who don't know, quantum physics is the study of the very small world that makes up matter, roughly speaking! I'm not an expert, just curious! I've already talked to you here about quantum entanglement and what it inspires in me!

Neste post, pretendo falar-vos de uma outra experiência que foi feita, nesse mundo do muito, muito pequeno - e podem acrescentar muitos mais à frase para descrever esse mundo das partículas ínfimas, o mundo subatómico, como átomos e fotões. Eu prometo que esta conversa vai ser interessante!

In this post, I want to tell you about another experiment that was conducted in this world of the very, very, very small — and you can add many more words "very" to that phrase to describe this world of tiny particles, the subatomic world, such as atoms and photons. I promise this conversation will be interesting!

Ora, numa dessas experiências, os cientistas, chegaram à conclusão bizarra que um determinado acontecimento no presente pode influenciar o passado! Estranho não vos parece? Teria mais lógica, ~~se é que a lógica pode ter algum sentido neste mundo pequenino~~, que o presente influenciasse o futuro. Bem ao estilo do filme Regresso ao Futuro.

Now, in one of these experiments, scientists came to the bizarre conclusion that a certain event in the present can influence the past! Strange, isn't it? It would make more sense, ~~if logic can have any meaning in this tiny world~~, for the present to influence the future. Just like in the film Back to the Future.

A este fenómeno os cientistas chamaram de retrocausalidade quântica. Trata-se confirmar que o estado de uma partícula no presente pode influenciar o estado da partícula no passado, como que se o passado estivesse vivo. Resumindo, o presente parece influenciar o passado da partícula, pondo em causa o que conhecemos por fenómeno de causa-efeito, que nos remete para o futuro. Tudo isto levanta questões relativamente à variável tempo! Estranho, bizarro, paradoxal! Isto é difícil de perceber e ainda mais de explicar. Mas eu dou-vos exemplo! Ou vários!

Scientists have called this phenomenon quantum retrocausality. It is a matter of confirming that the state of a particle in the present can influence the state of the particle in the past, as if the past were alive. In short, the present seems to influence the particle's past, calling into question what we know as the cause-and-effect phenomenon, which takes us into the future. All this raises questions regarding the time variable!. Strange, bizarre, paradoxical! But let me give you an example!

Este fenómeno pode ser explicado com um post do meu blog, que conta um episódio da minha vida e da minha luta, podem rever o post aqui. Trata-se de um acontecimento no presente, que alterou o passado de uma academia universitária, é claro que isto é ficção, mas não deixa de ser um acontecimento excepcional. Quando lancei o fogo às minhas fitas académicas na Porta Férrea da Universidade de Coimbra. Imaginem que este acontecimento no presente alterou o passado da academia. Como? No passado começou a ser realizada a festa dos estudantes, que se passou a chamar, nada mais, nada menos, que a festa da Queima das Fitas, tudo porque eu as queimei no presente! Genial! Acabei de provar mais uma Teoria Quântica! E a mulher retratada na calçada da Porta Férrea sou eu!!!

This phenomenon can be explained in a post on my blog, which recounts an episode from my life and my struggle. You can read the post here. It is about an event in the present that changed the past of a university academy. Of course, this is fiction, but it is nonetheless an exceptional event. When I set fire to my academic ribbons at the Porta Férrea (Iron Gate) of the University of Coimbra. Imagine that this event in the present changed the past of the academy. How? In the past, a student party began to be held, which came to be called, nothing more, nothing less, than the Ribbon Burning Party, all because I burned them in the present! Brilliant! I have just proven another Quantum Theory! And the woman pictured on the pavement at Porta Férrea (Iron Gate) is me!!!

Olá! Bem-vindos a mais um fabuloso post dos Looks da Semana! Esta semana, o Facebook fez me o favor de me lembrar que passaram 14 anos sobre a morte do génio da Informática Steve Jobs! Ele tinha as ideias e depois tinha uma equipe de engenheiros que faziam o desenvolvimento do produto, segundo as suas instruções. E, é isso que faz falta, pessoas que tenham ideias, que sejam visionários! Fazendo agora um paralelo com o meu blog, o trabalho mais difícil é ter ideias para posts, ter temas, para depois desenvolver! Se acham que isso é fácil, digo-vos que não, não é! Ele desenvolveu a tecnologia multi-touch nos telemóveis e revolucionou o mundo da comunicação móvel. Neste blog, eu desenvolvi o conceito de multi-look lol. I think he needs no introduction. You all know who I mean. Co-founder of Apple. But why do I want to talk about Steve Jobs? Because he was a person ahead of his time, a visionary! But what did he actually do? He had ideas! Lots of ideas! Do you think he was assembling computers or mobile phones? Of course not! He had the ideas and then he had a team of engineers who developed the product according to his instructions. And that's what's missing: people who have ideas, who are visionaries! Drawing a parallel with my blog, the hardest part is coming up with ideas for posts, finding topics, and then developing them! If you think that's easy, I can tell you it's not! He developed multi-touch technology for mobile phones, which revolutionised the world of mobile communication. Here, on this blog, I developed the concept of multi-look lol. You can enjoy 5 fabulous looks, each one different from the other. Ideas for these multi-seasonal days of the year! Enjoy and be inspired! It's free! It is people like Steve Jobs who are sorely missed in Portugal in all sectors of the economy!

Look Nº 900 - New Born, Culture!

Olá! Bem-vindos, meus caros amigos e leitores! O post de hoje é especial e inspirado nesta frase de Selma Lagerlöf!

"A cultura é tudo o que resta depois de se ter esquecido tudo o que se aprendeu"

Tenho a dizer que escrevo para o mundo, não apenas para o meu país, escrevo para todos aqueles que, em diferentes geografias, carregam dentro de si a riqueza daquilo que chamamos de cultura. A cultura define os povos, diferencia-os mas também os aproxima. Quer dizer, tanto os pode unir como separar, dependendo da forma como escolhemos olhar para ela.

Hello! Welcome, my dear friends and readers! Today's post is special and inspired by this quote from Selma Lagerlöf!

‘Culture is everything that remains after you have forgotten everything you have learned.’

I must say that I write for the world, not just for my country. I write for all those who, in different geographical locations, carry within themselves the richness of what we call culture. Culture defines peoples, differentiates them, but also brings them together. In other words, it can both unite and separate them, depending on how we choose to look at it.

Foi após um episódio simples do meu quotidiano que me fez reflectir sobre este tema. Foi quando esta semana, ao sair de um supermercado, vi chegar um carro com 4 homens, todos com panos enrolados na cabeça. Eram Sikhs, vindos da Índia. Em Portugal, estamos habituados a conviver com comunidades brasileira e africanas, com quem partilhamos a língua e parte da nossa história. Mas a presença de povos mais distantes, com costumes tão diferentes, ainda nos surpreende e até nos causa estranheza.

It was after a simple episode in my daily life that made me reflect on this topic. It was when, this week, as I was leaving a supermarket, I saw a car arrive with four men, all with cloths wrapped around their heads. They were Sikhs, from India. In Portugal, we are used to living alongside Brazilian and African communities, with whom we share a language and part of our history. But the presence of people from more distant lands, with such different customs, still surprises us and even strikes us as strange.

Confesso: por instantes senti receio. Mas logo percebi - esse medo não era real, mas fruto do desconhecido. É natural que aquilo que não compreendemos desperte preconceitos. Porém, os Sikhs são conhecidos pela sua espiritualidade e por serem pacíficos. Aquele momento é a prova de que a cultura quando não é conhecida, pode ser mal interpretada.

I confess: for a moment, I felt afraid. But I soon realised that this fear was not real, but rather the result of the unknown. It is natural that what we do not understand arouses prejudice. However, Sikhs are known for their spirituality and for being peaceful. That moment is proof that when a culture is unknown, it can be misinterpreted.

A História tem destas ironias. Fomos nós, portugueses,que descobrimos o caminho marítimo para a Índia, há séculos atrás, levando connosco uma outra visão do mundo. Agora, a História inverte-se: são eles que chegam até nós, trazendo as suas cores, a sua forma de viver.

History has its ironies. It was we, the Portuguese, who discovered the sea route to India centuries ago, bringing with us a different view of the world. Now, history has been reversed: it is they who come to us, bringing their colours and their way of life.

E é aqui que a frase de Selma Lagerlöf ganha força: a cultura é o que resta quando tudo mais se apaga, É ela que sobrevive às fronteiras políticas, às crises económicas, às guerras e às distâncias. É ela que nos mostra que, apesar das diferenças, partilhamos algo em comum - o desejo de viver em paz, de construir um futuro comum com sentido e respeito por todos os povos.

And this is where Selma Lagerlöf's quote comes into its own: culture is what remains when everything else fades away. It survives political borders, economic crises, wars and distances. It shows us that, despite our differences, we share something in common – the desire to live in peace, to build a shared future with meaning and respect for all peoples.

Por fim, a cultura é memória e é futuro. É aquilo que nos distingue, mas também o que nos pode unir. Se escolhermos olhar para a diversidade não como uma ameaça, mas como uma oportunidade. E, assim, damos um passo para uma sociedade mais justa, mais tolerante e mais humana! Isto chama-se transformação social! Um renascimento cultural!

Finally, culture is memory and it is future. It is what distinguishes us, but also what can unite us. If we choose to look at diversity not as a threat, but as an opportunity. And thus, we take a step towards a fairer, more tolerant and more humane society! This is called social transformation! A cultural renaissance!

Como este é um post especial, pois trata-se do post de look número 900! Tem que ter banda sonora da minha banda preferida - Os Muse! Escolhi a canção "New Born", porque de certa maneira ela fala de despertar, de abrir os olhos, de renascer para esta nova realidade em Portugal. Porque cada encontro com o Outro é sempre uma possibilidade de um novo nascimento cultural. Ou não! Lá está, tudo depende da forma como olhamos para as diferentes culturas, aceitando-as ou confrontando-as!*

As this is a special post, because it's my 900th outfit post, it has to have a soundtrack by my favourite band - Muse! I chose the song ‘New Born’ because, in a way, it talks about awakening, opening your eyes, being reborn into this new reality in Portugal. Because every encounter with the Other is always a possibility for a new cultural birth. Or not! There you go, it all depends on how we view different cultures, whether we accept them or confront them!*

* na verdade esta canção expressa o medo da evolução tecnológica e a alienação digital, mas eu adaptei a metáfora do recém nascido - New Born - ao medo que diferentes culturas podem originar nas pessoas que as desconhecem e, de certa maneira, na alienação que isso pode provocar nestes povos que não se conseguem integrar nos países para os quais emigram.

* In fact, this song expresses fear of technological evolution and digital alienation, but I adapted the metaphor of the newborn to the fear that different cultures can instill in people who are unfamiliar with them and, in a way, to the alienation that this can cause in these people who are unable to integrate into the countries to which they emigrate.

Olá! Bem-vindos, a mais um fabuloso post dos Looks da Semana! E num piscar de olhos estamos no mês de Outubro! O Verão passou a correr, nem dava por ele, não fossem os dias de calor tórrido e os sempre indesejáveis fogos florestais. Com este novo mês começam as assustadoras depressões e tempestades, já tivémos uma, felizmente não foi muito grave! Mas parece que vêm lá mais a caminho através do Oceano Atlântico! Os dias ainda estão muito quentes, com temperaturas a rondar os 30ºC, muito calor, portanto! Daí que os looks que vos apresento, sejam uma mistura de roupa de Verão com roupa de Outono! Espero inspirar-vos para estes dias, em que de manhã e à noite está frio, mas durante a tarde está muito calor! Espero que gostem e inspirem-se!

Hello! Welcome to another fabulous post of Looks of the Week! And in the blink of an eye, we're already in October! Summer flew by so quickly, I didn't even notice it, except for the scorching hot days and the ever-unwelcome forest fires. With this new month come the frightening depressions and storms. We've already had one, fortunately not too serious! But it looks like more are on their way across the Atlantic Ocean! The days are still very hot, with temperatures around 30ºC, so very hot indeed! That's why the looks I'm presenting to you are a mix of summer and autumn clothes! I hope to inspire you for these days, when it's cold in the morning and evening, but very hot in the afternoon!
