Look Nº 629 - The Pandemic Diary!

 Continuamos em confinamento. Respirar fundo para continuar. O nosso governo pretende que o confinamento se prolongue até depois da Páscoa. Mas, a sociedade civil está esgotada, evidência aquilo que se chama de cansaço do confinamento. Esta situação, para os canais de televisão portugueses, não poderia ser melhor, as pessoas são obrigadas a estar em casa, logo vêm mais tv e, isso significa mais publicidade o que por sua vez significa mais dinheiro para as televisões. 

We remain in Lockdown. Take a deep breath to continue. Our government wants the confinement to continue until after Easter. But, civil society is exhausted, evidence of what is called lockdown fatigue. This situation, for Portuguese television channels, could not be better, people are obliged to be at home, then they watch more TV and, this means more advertising which in turn means more money for TV channels.

Isto tudo para vos contar que esta semana uma directora de um canal, aquando de um lançamento de um novo programa disse o seguinte: "... com este novo programa as pessoas  vão gostar ainda mais de estar em casa..." - O quê?? A sério?? Só pode estar a gozar, não??? Então as pessoas estão esgotadas de estar em casa e vem esta fulana dizer isto? Isto só pode ser uma provocação!! É que se há alguém que não sabe o que é a pandemia, estar confinado e, todos os seus efeitos nefastos sobre a economia são as pessoas que trabalham em televisão. Fazem programas que são autênticas festas, convivem, comem, tudo muito feliz, enquanto mandam os outros ficarem em casa, muitos com os negócios fechados, outros em vias de perder o emprego, outros desempregados, outros sem ter o que comer, outros sem dinheiro para pagar a casa/renda, etc. etc. etc.. E, vêm estes FDP com a maior desfaçatez dizer que as pessoas ainda vão gostar mais de estar em casa!!! Ah e se fossem todos pastar!!!

All this to tell you that this week a TV channel director, when launching a new tv show, said the following: "... with this new show, people will enjoy being at home even more ..." - What ?? Seriously?? You can only be kidding, can't you??? So people are exhausted from being at home and this guy say this? This can only be a provocation!! If there is someone who doesn't know what the pandemic is, to be confined and, all its harmful effects on the economy are the people who work on television. They make shows that are authentic parties, live together, eat, all very happy, while telling others to stay at home, many with their businesses closed, others on the verge of losing their jobs, others unemployed, others without food, others without money to pay the house/rent, etc. etc. etc ... And, these m@ther of a F... come with the greatest impudence to say that people will enjoy being at home even more!!! Ah go to hell!!!
