Não sendo a América de David Bowie nem a minha, é com certeza a América de Donald Trump!
Hello, welcome to another provocative post! Conscience-provoking, of course! Never has a song made so much sense as the soundtrack to a post on my blog as the song by the legendary David Bowie, ‘This is not America’. While it's not David Bowie's America or mine, it's certainly Donald Trump's America!
Eu não vou acrescentar nada de novo àquilo que os especialistas em ciência política e relações internacionais já disseram, mas não posso deixar de mostrar a minha indignação, mágoa e tristeza perante este "novo" país - Estados Unidos da América! É uma grande desilusão para mim, presenciar o assassinato do ideal americano, o ideal que apaixonou gerações em todo o mundo, em especial naqueles países onde não existe liberdade de expressão, os povos oprimidos do mundo!
I'm not going to add anything new to what the experts in political science and international relations have already said, but I can't help but show my indignation, hurt and sadness at this ‘new’ country - the United States of America! It is a great disappointment for me to witness the murder of the American ideal, the ideal that has enamoured generations all over the world, especially in those countries where there is no freedom of expression, the oppressed peoples of the world!
Putin não precisou de disparar um tiro, um míssil que fosse para influenciar a América e os muitos americanos que votaram em Trump! Ao que parece são agora BFF! A América tornou-se numa nação que acredita em Teorias da Conspiração e onde a desinformação começa a fazer o seu caminho. O populismo no seu expente máximo!
Putin didn't need to fire a shot, or a missile, to influence America and the many Americans who voted for Trump! Apparently they are now BFFs! America has become a nation that believes in Conspiracy Theories and where disinformation is beginning to make its way. Populism at its finest!
A verdade é que Donald Trump em pouco tempo, bastaram uns dias, mudou o mundo, estabeleceu uma nova ordem mundial e de forças e, é neste momento uma ameaça à estabilidade mundial. Neste momento olho para a América e já não sei se é a pátria da Democracia ou uma nação à beira do autoritarismo!
The truth is that Donald Trump has changed the world in a short space of time, just a few days, has established a new world order and forces, and is now a threat to global stability. Now I look at America and I don't know if it's the homeland of democracy or a nation on the brink of authoritarianism!
Eu espero que os americanos de bem resistam como já o fizeram no passado! Eu não quero assistir à repetição da história, eu não quero viver uma III Guerra Mundial! Mas o que mais me preocupa é o silêncio desses americanos, os antigos presidentes, a oposição ao louco do Trump! Alguém tem de o parar!
I hope that good Americans will resist as they have done in the past! I don't want to see history repeat itself, I don't want to live through a Third World War! But what worries me most is the silence of these Americans, the former presidents, the opposition to the madman Trump! Someone has to stop him!

É impossível não refletir sobre as palavras que compartilham uma visão tão profunda e preocupada com o rumo de uma nação que, para muitos, simbolizava ideais grandiosos de liberdade e justiça. As suas palavras ecoam um lamento por aquilo que foi e o que se tornou. A tristeza e a indignação são palpáveis, e ao mesmo tempo, a esperança de que, assim como no passado, os "americanos de bem" resistam.
