I'm thinking to myself how I'm going to tell this story, "maybe I should be more discreet"! You accuse me of "talk too much" hahaha!!! I'll start by telling you that I'm in the Monastery of Alcobaça - the most beautiful monastery in Portugal - where a king and queen are buried, the protagonists of the most beautiful love story in Portuguese history, but also the most tragic. Inseparable in life and in death! So TODAY it's all going to be a double dose, inseparable from myself! "I'm going to serve you up some sugary sweet", which is what this post is!
- Because Pedro was already married!
- Because Inês was Lady-in-Waiting to Pedro's wife. A scandal!
- and because D. Inês was Spanish (Spain at the time always wanted to annex the territories of the Kingdom of Portugal to its own).
Pedro's relationship with this Spanish woman was not accepted by his father, the King of Portugal, and also by the court, which saw this union as a threat to Portugal's independence. The Kingdom of Castile - now Spain - had always wanted to conquer Portugal. In the meantime, Pedro's wife died. Pedro moved in with Inês, with whom he had three children! This relationship was a scandal, because Pedro took Inês as his legitimate wife. This attitude deeply angered Pedro's father, who in a foolish act had 3 men hired to assassinate Inês! "that's no real feat"!

As for my look, I chose this floral patterned dress to honour the
fabrics called Chitas de Alcobaça. This type of fabric - chintz - was
brought by the Portuguese from India in the 15th century and, from
Portugal, was commercialised throughout Europe. There are many prints
and motifs, but the most common are floral. It was difficult to get
photos of the most beautiful chintz, as the few photos that exist are
protected by copyright!
There are only two shops in Portugal that sell this fabric, one in Alcobaça and the other in Porto. New designers are trying to find new uses for it, such as decoration. With such a beautiful history, it is urgent that this fabric is given its due value and that this Portuguese heritage is not allowed to die. It must be defended and protected so that it doesn't disappear into the foam of days!

As for the song I've chosen to soundtrack this post and this "life time" love, it's "Talk too Much". King Pedro certainly wouldn't like a romantic song that melt the coldest heart. I think the song I've chosen TODAY is perfect for a King who went down in Portuguese history as, "say it loud", The Cruel One!

Hello and welcome to another fabulous Looks of the Week post! This Friday is the day I have to go for my medical treatment, so I'm getting ahead with my work here because I never know how I'll look afterwards! I'll start by drawing your attention to the beauty of this week's looks! But I'm suspicious, because I always like them all, all my clothes have a story to tell and I easily associate them with the stories and songs in my blog posts! Isn't it wonderful to have clothes with music????
DOMINGO / SUNDAY
SEGUNDA / MONDAY
I think this look is very pretty and it's so simple, stripes will never be out of fashion, they're so pretty and look so good in photos. If you want a classic piece in your closet, go for a navy blue striped shirt! As I liked this look so much, I'm showing it from two different angles!
This was an outfit I wore for a family birthday lunch. It was a gray day, so I wore a jacket, but then the day turned beautiful and I didn't even need it, I wore a Lycra maxi dress so I could move around and be comfortable. It was so much fun being together!
QUARTA / WEDNESDAY
When I photograph the Looks of the Week I'm always accompanied by this kitten, but he's very shy and never wants to photograph with me, but I caught him and forcibly put him in the photo hahaha!!! Meet Fofinho (Sweetie)! He's a street cat and doesn't get on very well with humans, but I give him food and he trusts us more, which, by the way, we're not a very reliable race!!!
QUINTA / THURSDAY
Então, digam-me lá qual é o vosso look preferido?
Hello, how are you? In this post I'm going to tell you a story about me that very few people know! But I'm also going to tell you about the place where I am. This magnificent place is the Figueira da Foz Arts and Entertainment Center. Behind me you can see four trunks of a single tree that was the subject of a sculpture. This tree (Freixo tree) was 300 years old and was felled by storm Leslie. Sculptor Paulo Neves sculpted four saints from its trunk: St. Anthony, St. John, St. Peter and St. Julian! A tree that died but was reborn to enchant us in this beautiful way!
What I have to tell you about me was also a storm, a mousetrap, an indecent proposal. It happened when I was still working! As this blog is autobiographical, this story has to be part of it!
We went to lunch at the Caçarola Restaurant opposite the Casino, talked about various subjects, until at a certain point he started a conversation that wasn't very convenient: "Marisa, as you know, I'm a married man, but I like to have extramarital relations. I come to Figueira once a week and on that day we could meet and have a relationship". Believe me, I was very delicate in the language I used, because the proposal was made in a disgusting way!!!. Continuing, I told him in amazement: "You must be mistaken, I'm not like that, I'm not the person you think I am! You've certainly got the wrong person, if it happens to other people in the company, with me is NO!!!"
MORAL OF THE STORY
I was about to lose my job because my company was in great economic difficulty. There are few jobs in my town and it was hard to find another job in my field. What's more, I didn't have a strong financial backing, I wasn't married and my father had already died. My coffee-shop was also struggling. In other words, I had every reason to accept that offer, it would be a lottery win with such a powerful man! And, with him, it would be much easier to get another job since he was a man with many connections in the business world! But I told this scumb@g, NO!!!
I wonder today how many girls would have said yes if they were me! How many do this happen and they take the opportunity just to get well in life! I, wearing this look without a bag (because I'm not a commodity you can trade) and with this flower on my head as if it were the top of a tree, felt like a GIANT with the decision I had made. I'm sure that very, very few people wouldn't have taken advantage of the situation!!!
Hold your head up, keep your head up, movin' on
Hold your head up, movin' on, keep your head up, movin' on
But that's not my motto in life, my ambition is not to have to endure or fall into a trap like this. God puts us to the test and this was a tricky one, but God knows I didn't hesitate! The music I chose tells the rest, these Sweet Dreams always turn into big nightmares! Always standing like the trees!
Hold your head up, keep your head up, movin' on
Hold your head up, movin' on, keep your head up, movin' on

Hello and welcome to another fabulous Looks of the Week post! This week the weather gave us two seasons! At the beginning of the week we had a glimpse of fall, which allowed us to wear some warmer clothes, but not too much! At the end of the week, summer returned, but as I was already in a more autumnal mood, I wanted to show you some outfits for the cooler days ahead! I hope you like what I have to show you!
DOMINGO / SUNDAY

In this look, I've chosen 3 trends for this fall! The first, the metallic tones of the skirt, if you remember, this skirt has been out for 7 years. So saving our clothes is good advice, because fashion is cyclical! The second trend is the pleated skirt, which is still in the stores and in the main brands. The third trend is stripes: all those fashionistas have a striped sweater in their closet to make up their Parisian look!
One exercise I really enjoy doing is putting looks with different styles of a garment face to face! In this exercise we can see our evolution in terms of style. If you look at the next photo, from left to right, we have looks from 2021, 2022 and 2023! There's been a big evolution, I'm more confident in my photography and it's also clear that I've lost weight (which in my case isn't a good sign). What do you think of my evolution?

Então, digam-me lá qual é o vosso look preferido?
Hello, how are you? I loved doing this photo shoot, you can bet it really boosted my self-esteem! I think you can see why! Too bad my life doesn't have all this glamour! A while ago I needed some documents approved, you can't imagine how difficult it was to get them, do you know why? Because people just look at me and see someone who "sells" health! The worst thing is that it's quite the opposite!
As you know, I recently changed my treatment because the one I was doing simply wasn't effective anymore! But now I find myself having to do a new treatment that doesn't seem to be working oh! I'm already telling myself that I'm doing a treatment to get worse!
My aim with this post was to show you and prove to you the Portuguese saying "Those who see faces don't see hearts"! The confrontation of words with the beauty of images. These two realities are shocking. Looking at this, who's to say I have a serious illness? The title of the song I'm leaving you with is a bit of a summary of my life!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FnUuZ5wCgA
But looking back on my life, I feel like a great heroine, one of those Korean girls from the cartoons, such have been the difficulties I've been through. I've always made the most difficult decisions, but the most morally correct ones. Let's just say I preferred working in my coffee-shop to spreading my legs to improve my life!!! Do you know what I mean?
