Olá! Bem-vindos a mais um fabuloso post dos Looks da Semana! Não pensei ir escrever sobre isto, mas esta semana temos mais um conflito aberto nesta Terra que todos partilhamos e que tão mal tratamos, estou a falar naturalmente do conflito entre Israel e a Palestina! Que tristeza! Enquanto os líderes se envolvem em disputas intermináveis, talvez fosse mais sábio dedicarem-se a algo menos destrutivo. Que tal canalizarem toda essa energia bélica para o mundo da moda? A ironia de trocar armas por tecidos e balas por botões seria um lembrete cómico de que, por vezes, a moda é uma guerra de estilos, mas, ao contrário dos conflitos reais, ela não resulta em danos irreparáveis. Quem sabe se ao invés de lançar bombas, porque não lançar tendências? Afinal, um mundo com mais glamour e menos guerras seria, sem dúvida, uma forma mais estilosa de existir!

Hello and welcome to another fabulous Looks of the Week post! I didn't think I was going to write about this, but this week we have yet another open conflict on this Earth that we all share and treat so badly, I'm talking of course about the conflict between Israel and Palestine! How sad! Whilst leaders get involved in endless disputes, perhaps it would be wiser to devote themselves to something less destructive. How about channeling all that war energy into the world of fashion? The irony of swapping guns for fabrics and bullets for buttons would be a comic reminder that sometimes fashion is a war of styles, but unlike real conflicts, it doesn't result in irreparable damage. Who knows, instead of dropping bombs, why not drop trends? After all, a world with more glamour and fewer wars would undoubtedly be a more stylish way to exist!

A Casa de Serralves (1944), situada no Porto, é de facto uma joia da arquitetura Art Déco. O estilo é caracterizado por formas geométricas, pormenores ornamentados e uma mistura de elementos modernos e clássicos. A casa apresenta uma fachada cor-de-rosa, relevos decorativos e linhas simétricas. A utilização de linhas curvas e rectas reflecte a estética geométrica da Art Déco. O jardim harmoniza-se com o estilo Art Déco, incorporando padrões geométricos e elementos paisagísticos modernos. A Casa de Serralves é um testemunho arquitetónico vivo da história.

The music with its fusion of vintage and contemporary elements complements the sensation of traveling back in time. And you know how much I love that!

Quanto ao meu look, quis, também, que fosse a materialização do estilo Art Déco. Onde as formas geométricas do casaco formam um puzzle em harmonia entre mim e as paredes da Casa, criando uma simbiose visual entre o meu estilo e os contornos gráficos que definem os espaços. Onde a transparência do meu look representa as janelas que rasgam as paredes. Onde as formas do meu corpo, como que uma escultura viva, se funde nesta narrativa estética. O meu look não é apenas uma escolha estilistica, mas uma conversa poética com os espaços da Casa de Serralves.

As for my look, I also wanted it to be the materialization of the Art Deco style. Where the geometric shapes of the coat form a harmonious puzzle between me and the walls of the House, creating a visual symbiosis between my style and the graphic contours that define the spaces. Where the transparency of my look represents the windows that tear through the walls. Where the shapes of my body, like a living sculpture, merge into this aesthetic narrative. My look is not just a stylistic choice, but a poetic conversation with the spaces of Casa de Serralves.

Mas o que é que um banco falido tem que ver com toda esta história? O BPN foi um banco português que enfrentou graves problemas financeiros. Estes estiveram relacionados com irregularidades, má gestão e práticas financeiras de risco. A nacionalização do banco influenciou o seu património, incluindo obras de arte, e a sua posterior colocação em instituições culturais. Foi o que aconteceu com a coleção de quadros do pintor espanhol Miró pertencente ao banco e, que agora está exposta na Casa de Serralves.

But what does a broke bank have to do with all this? BPN it was a portuguese bank that faced significant financial troubles. The bank's troubles were related to irregularities, mismanagement and risky financial practices. The nationalization of the bank likely influenced its assets, including art works, and subsequent placement in cultural institutions. This is what happened with the collection of paintings by the Spanish painter Miró, which is now on display at Casa de Serralves.

Lana del Rey faz insistentemente a pergunta Porquê na sua canção. À medida que nos deparamos com as formas abstractas e cores vibrantes das composições de Miró, a pergunta Porquê vem-nos à mente. Sussurra como um eco através das galerias. Porquê estas formas? Porquê estas cores? Porquê? Ao olharmos as suas obras somos convidados a desvendar os motivos subjacentes, a penetrar na mente do pintor e a decifrar os porquês por trás de cada pincelada. Assim como Lana del Rey questiona na sua música, Miró nos desafia a explorar o significado, a descobrir os porquês das suas obras. É assim que tem de se abordar a arte moderna, espero ter ajudado.

Lana del Rey persistently asks the question Why in her song. As we encounter the abstract shapes and vibrant colors of Miró's compositions, the question Why comes to mind. Esta semana, o que tenho a depor, neste blog, para memória futura, foi a minha batalha capilar com a raíz do meu cabelo e com a necessidade de apresentar umas fotos minimamente apresentáveis! É desta forma cómica que vos apresento um problema sério para mim, pode parecer uma futilidade, mas garanto-vos que uma visita ao cabeleireiro opera milagres na minha auto-estima, também vos acontece???

This week, what I have to tell you on this blog, for future reference, was my hair battle with the roots of my hair and the need to present some minimally presentable photos! I'm telling you, it was hard! In this city where the root of bad moods grows faster than the economy, I, an explorer of the hair world, was facing an existential crisis. Once upon a time in the ancient city of Coimbra, I found myself magically transformed into the iconic artist Frida Kahlo. Adorned in a dress ablaze with colors reminiscent of Frida's own vibrant paintings, I embarked on an enchanting journey to the historic Santa Clara a Velha Monastery...

Este Mosteiro é um local histórico fascinante. Fundado no século XIV pela Rainha Santa Isabel de Portugal, foi dedicado a Santa Clara. O Mosteiro é conhecido pela sua arquitetura gótica e pela serena localização à beira-rio. Ao longo dos séculos, enfrentou desafios como as inundações. Este Mosteiro ficou parcialmente submerso devido às alterações do rio Mondego, mas foram feitos esforços para preservar e mostrar os seus vestígios. O local oferece um vislumbre da arquitetura religiosa medieval e dos desafios enfrentados pelas estruturas históricas.

This Monastery is a fascinating historical site. Founded in the 14th century by Queen Saint Elizabeth of Portugal, it was dedicated to Saint Clare. The Monastery is known for its Gothic architecture and serene riverside location. Over the centuries, it faced challenges like flooding. This Monastery was partially submerged due to changes in the Mondego River, but efforts have been made to preserve and showcase its remains. The site provides a glimpse into medieval religious architecture and the challenges faced by historical structures.

...Quando entrei no Mosteiro, os sussurros de contos centenários roçaram na minha alma. O ar estava cheio de reverência e mistério, ecoando os ecos do passado. As cores vivas do meu vestido harmonizavam-se com as pedras antigas, criando uma tela viva de arte e história...

...As I stepped into the Monastery, the whispers of centuries old tales brushed against my soul. The air was filled with sense of reverence and mystery, echoing the echoes of the past. The vivid hues of my dress harmonized with the ancient stones, creating a living canvas of art and history...

Imaginem que sou a Frida Kahlo com as flores na cabeça, agora loura a precisar urgentemente de ir ao cabeleireiro. Na foto seguinte Frida passou-se da cabeça e transformou-se numa loura estonteante, até as sobrancelhas fez, pasme-se!!!!

Imagine I'm Frida Kahlo with flowers on my head, now blonde and in urgent need of a hairdresser. In the next photo Frida has gone out of her mind and turned into a stunning blonde, she's even had her eyebrows done, amazingly!!!!

Nos corredores silenciosos, comecei a cantar "What the water gave me" de Florence + The Machine. A minha voz, como uma melodia assombrosa, entrelaçou-se com os ecos do Mosteiro, dando vida às histórias esquecidas gravadas nas paredes...

In the quiet corridors , I began to sing "What the water gave me" by Florence + The Machine. My voice , like a haunting melody, intertwined with the echoes of the Monastery, breathing life into the forgotten stories etched into the walls...

"What the water gave me" de Florence + The Machine é inspirada na artista Frida Kahlo e na sua pintura com o mesmo nome. A letra aborda temas como a vida, a morte e a passagem implacável do tempo. Florence mencionou que a música explora a ideia do poder de transformação da água, tanto no sentido físico quanto metafórico. A letra é rica em simbolismo e evoca uma sensação de profundidade e emoção, é uma viagem poética através de temas de criação, destruição e renovação. Foi exactamente o que aconteceu com este Mosteiro!

"What the water gave me" by Florence + The Machine is inspired by the artist Frida Kahlo and her painting of the same name. The lyrics delve into themes of live, death, and the relentless passage of time. Florence has mentioned that the song explores the idea of the transformation power of water, both in physical and metaphorical sense. ...De repente, a Rainha Santa Isabel materializou-se diante de mim, a sua presença régia irradiava calor. Com um sorriso que reflectia a bondade que lhe era reconhecida, apresentei-lhe as rosas que adornavam a minha cabeça (o lenço): "São as rosas, Majestade", exclamei: "Fiz um milagre?...

...Suddendly, Queen Saint Elizabeth materialized before me, her regal presence radiating warmth. With a smile that mirrored the kindness she was known for, I presented the roses adorning my head (the scarf) "Those are the roses your Majesty", I exclamed "Did I perform a miracle?"...

A Rainha Santa Isabel, conhecida pela sua compaixão e pelas suas obras de caridade, dedicou grande parte da sua vida a ajudar os pobres e os doentes. Reza a lenda que ela transformou milagrosamente pão em rosas, que depois ofereceu ao Rei para provar a legitimidade dos seus esforços caridosos. A sua bondade e devoção valeram-lhe o título de Santa após a sua morte. O seu legado mantém-se através de várias instituições de caridade que receberam o seu nome.

Queen Saint Elizabeth known for her compassion and charitable works, she dedicated mubch of her life to helping the poor and sick. Legend has it that she miraculously turned bread into roses, which she then presented to the King to prove the legitimacy of her charitable efforts. Her kindness and devotion earned her the title of Saint after her deadth. Her legacy lives on through various charitable institutions mamed after her.

... Os olhos da Rainha brilharam de compreensão e ela respondeu: "Na tua expressão artística, teceste uma tapeçaria que transcende o tempo. O milagre reside na beleza que trouxeste a este momento - uma convergência de arte, história e um toque de magia. Partilhamos um momento em que as fronteiras dos séculos se dissolveram e a arte se tornou uma ponte que liga as almas através do tempo". Enquanto continuava a minha viagem pelo Mosteiro, os ecos das palavras da Rainha Santa Isabel permaneciam, recordando-me que, no reino da criatividade, cada pedra, cada nota e cada cor podem tecer milagres que desafiam as constantes do tempo!

No diálogo artístico entre a pergunta de Frida e a resposta da rainha, o passado submerso do mosteiro e o presente fundiram-se, criando um momento em que a história e a arte convergiram como ondulações na superfície da água!
