Olá! Bem-vindos a mais uma semana de trabalho árduo aqui no blog! Numa reviravolta digna de contos épicos, Fernão Mendes Pinto (navegador português do séc. XVI homenageado nesta escultura) renascido das cinzas da História, assume a pena para narrar um novo capítulo da sua obra mais conhecida "Peregrinação" (obra literária que mistura o real com o fantástico). Testemunha ocular da dança política, nesse espectáculo, criaturas fantásticas emergem dos salões do poder. Ele tece uma narrativa onde Pedro Nuno Santos (o mais provável líder do Partdo Socialista) assume o protagonismo enquanto António Costa - o 1º Ministro demissionário - se retira de palco!

Hello and welcome to another week of hard work here on the blog! In a twist worthy of epic tales, Fernão Mendes Pinto (the 16th century portuguese navigator honoured in this sculpture), reborn from the ashes of history, takes up the pen to narrate a new chapter of his best-known work "Pilgrimage" (a literary work that mixes the real with the fantastic). An eyewitness to the political dance, in this spectacle, fantastic creatures emerge from the halls of power. He weaves a narrative in which Pedro Nuno Santos (the most likely leader of the Socialist Party) takes center stage while António Costa - the resigning Prime Minister - retires from the stage! 

Entre os candidatos, André Ventura com a sua lança polémica, destila fogo populista. Rui Rocha, estratega astuto, propõe uma revolução moderna! Luis Montenegro traça linhas de mudança. Mariana Mortágua a proguessista alienada e Paulo Raimundo a fazer contas ao eleitorado. Neste teatro político, o povo, ávido, por mudanças é a plateia cativa e atenta, assiste ao espectáculo político, onde todos estes candidatos, como que criaturas míticas modernas, disputam o trono numa "Peregrinação" eleitoral cheia de reviravoltas.

 

Among the candidates, André Ventura, with his polemical spear, is spewing populist fire. Rui Rocha, an astute strategist, proposes a modern revolution! Luis Montenegro outlines change. Mariana Mortágua the alienated proguessist and Paulo Raimundo counting the electorate. In this political theatre, the people, eager for change, are the captive and attentive audience watching the political show, where all these candidates, like modern mythical creatures, vie for the throne in an electoral "Pilgrimage" full of twists and turns.

 Banda Sonora desta Peregrinação

 "Running up that hill" dos Placebo (original de Kate Bush) pode ser interpretada como uma metáfora para a jornada política dos candidatos e eleitores na Peregrinação eleitoral, com alguma ironia à mistura! A busca por compreensão e empatia reflete a necessidade dos políticos entenderem verdadeiramente as preocupações e desafios do povo - a letra da música aborda o desejo de compreender a perspectiva do outro - A ideia de "correr colina acima" pode simbolizar a superação de obstáculos e a busca por mudanças positivas. Mudanças essas urgentíssimas!

 

Pilgrimage Soundtrack

Placebo's "Running up that hill" (original by Kate Bush) can be interpreted as a metaphor for the political journey of candidates and voters in the Electoral Pilgrimage with a little irony thrown in. The search for understanding and empathy reflects the need for politicians to truly understand the concerns and challenges of the people - the lyrics address the desire to understand the other person's perspective - The idea of "running up that hill" can symbolize overcoming obstacles and seeking positive changes. Changes that are extremely urgent btw!
