Hello my dear friends and readers, welcome to another fantastic post! I recently visited the newest museum in Cantanhede, now the Museum of Art and Collecting, formerly the Stone Museum - I visited it in this post - I want to tell you that I was completely surprised by the variety and richness of the collections on display. The themes are so different that you feel like you're on a journey through the art and culture of various countries in the form of collections. I invite you to come and visit with me, come along!
Among the collections, I found a bit of everything: lighters, coffee cups, vinyl records, VHS tapes, glasses, kinder egg toys, clocks, etc. Only part of the collections are displayed in the showcases, the rest are all in the museum archives. But also art, antique furniture, sacred art, embroidery from various countries, old coins, stamps, old correspondence! Believe me, there are many more collections I haven't mentioned!
Como sabem eu adoro bordados, e o que mais gostei de ver foram os quadros de bordados, que parecem autênticas pinturas vindos de toda a parte do mundo. Foi, para mim, o melhor do Museu!
As you know, I love embroidery, and what I loved most were the embroidery pictures, which look like real paintings from all over the world. For me, it was the best thing about the museum!
The visit to the museum culminates in a very cosy café area, perfect for those who want to prolong the experience. And the croissants... pure deliciousness! It's a comfortable, light space where you can enjoy the atmosphere and recharge after your visit to the museum! 5 stars!!!
This museum led me to reflect on the concept of collecting. I thought about what kind of collection I could create. After all, collecting is about preserving little bits of our world. I realised that I already have a collection - even if it is ‘ironically’ of rivals! The curious thing is that I honestly don't know what makes so many people envious of me. I don't have a fortune or any valuable material possessions, I'm ill and I live with my mum. I always have my company, which I've always valued. Can you believe that every time I post a photo on Instagram I lose a follower, but I get more and more visits to my profile! I don't know what stirs up all this resentment/hate against me!
The Museum of Collecting made me realise how exciting it is to have a collection. And standing there with all those objects collected over a lifetime, I felt that collecting is a way of standing the test of time. I left there inspired, thinking that regardless of the ‘rivals’ that life brings us, a collection is a reflection of what we love and want to preserve, and preserving our mental health is the best thing we can do for ourselves and get away from these toxic people. Can you believe I can't leave my car parked in my street because it gets vandalised, I have to put it in the garage as soon as I get home!!!
Finally, I must introduce you to the patrons of this museum: all these collections are part of the collection that was given to the museum by the medical couple, Dr Liliana and Dr Cândido Ferreira. Their whole lives were spent building these collections. They were compulsive collectors! Curiously, and without knowing it, I was friends with Dr Cândido on Facebook, because he was a person who fought hard for respect for human rights! If you get the chance, visit this museum, I guarantee you'll be surprised!

ResponderEliminarThis is such a fun post, Marisa! The Museum of Art and Collecting sounds like a treasure trove of amazing finds, from everyday items like coffee cups and records to beautiful embroidery panels that look like paintings! I’d love to wander through all those collections, and ending in a cozy café with tasty croissants sounds like the perfect way to wrap up the visit.

This museum is amazing, I thought that the first time I saw your pictures on Insta but discovering all these details and especially finding out that all those pieces are embroidery not paintings as I thought when seeing them on Insta is really amazing.
ResponderEliminarYou are right, we should all collect something, me, I am collecting books or almost hahaha. As for your haters, don't consider them at all. Forget those that unfollow you and think only about the new persons that might like your posts and and thoughts. (I love this the hard way last month 😜)
Stay well and consider only those that consider you. Kissee and hugs.
Adorei seu look na visita ao museu. Eu adoraria visitar este lugar, pelo que vi há muitas coleções para serem vistas. Beijos nas bochechas! 😘🌼
ResponderEliminarIt looks so interesting. I love the embroidery pictures.
