Look Nº468 - #abstention

The elections for the Prime Minister and for Parliament are on 6 October. Candidates are campaigning, and the debates between them are multiplying on television. I am abstentionist for several reasons. And, there is an argument used against us, that we don't vote, that solemnly pisses me off. But first of all I have to say that I will not vote for laziness, especially because the polling station is in front of my house. For no other futile reason like going to the beach or strolling to the mall, okay??

What happens in Portugal and what I've been finding is that the ruling parties don't rule for people, they rule for a clientele - companies, law firms, the financial sector and some dark interests - and this has been true for all the parties that have been in government since we are a democracy.

Of course, with a submissive people there are many corruption cases, and now the shame has been lost, and the modesty is lost. The decency has been lost. Now being a voter in any of these parties I would be colluding with all the corruption that rages in our political class. So when they come up with the argument "You can't complain because you don't vote," I just don't accept it and I feel that I even have more legitimacy to complain because I'm not part of this bunch that rules us and has ruled.

Don't be naive, if one of us had to compete in a public contest with one of these people's children, we would lose, if we were on a waiting list for surgery, these people would pass us by. So don't screw me!! I don't conniving voting in these people, I'm not conniving with the corrupt, I don't vote and, I complain because I have this right!! The command is mine !! And when I see them on TV, I change the channel, my insides get angry !! #abstention

These photos are from last year. They were not published because the blog was suspended. As I can't leave my home because of my hurting foot, I'm using the photos I have on file and I was considerably thinner. I want to thank Fnac for allowing these photos.

  6. I'm loving the dress you're wearing here. Gorgeous colors and abstraction! I can relate on not bothering to vote. I have voted once but like you said, what exactly is different from one party to the next if the principle behind it remains the same! Watching politics on TV is a absolute garbage and I applaud you for changing the channel! Hope you are in the pink of health there darling :) Stay sharp and beautiful always :) xoxo

  15. What a cute dress and fun photos!

Sorry that the political situation in your country is so bad that it is better not to vote! here in Queensland it's illegal not to vote, you need to turn up at the voting place or you get a fine.

Hope that you had a great weekend :) Thank you so much for joining the #weekdayWearLinkUp :) I just posted this week's linkup, I'd love you to join again! :)
