Look Nº 471 - How dare you?

This story shows the Greta Thunberg inside me ahahahah  I also said to my President, "How dare you, Mr. President?? Okay more or less!!
This to tell you a story I read in the newspaper. Are you curious?

The news said that a child was born on a roadside in an ambulance because it did not arrive in time to maternity and the labor was done by firefighters! This happens in Portugal!!! Why? Due to the economic crisis and the low birth rate, most Portuguese maternity hospitals were closed. This has happened in practically all small Portuguese cities, with pregnant women moving to the main urban centers, some over 200 km for medical assistance in labor. I take this opportunity to pay tribute to the Portuguese firefighters.

Passo a transcrever parte dessa carta:

Of course the date of a birth is always something unpredictable, there are children who are hurried and are born before the scheduled date, and sometimes there is no time to reach maternity and the child is born in the ambulance stopped somewhere on a road. When they close the Maternity in my city I wrote to the President of the Republic showing my indignation (and I don't even have children)!!
I transcribe part of this letter:

Apetece-me ser a Greta e dizer: How dare you Marisa??

"... Mr. President, a country that put its women to give birth on highways is not worthy of any of them getting pregnant! Mr. President I have thought a lot about a similar example, even though it has nothing similar, but a masculine example and, the only one that came to mind was this: Would you, be willing to make a prostate probe in the middle of a highway, inside an ambulance? Oh, and not done by a Urologist, but by ambulance service volunteer or aka firefighter!! So Mr. President now do the mental exercise of imagining a birth! "
I feel like being Greta and say: How dare you Marisa??

And a Greta post couldn't miss a song, the ones she likes to hear and the music videos she likes to see, is Pink Floyd's spectacular High Hopes song - with translation - and she dedicates it to Mr. President can be for all Presidents. I like to think that the bell you hear in music is the bell - A Cabra (goat) - from the University of Coimbra.

High Hopes - Pink Floyd

Hope you like it!!! And keep reading..

Beijinhos

  10. Ahahahah, definitely you are a fighter Marisa!
I liked your letter to the president!
Anyway the situation of the hospital in Portugal is bad, really even here in Italy is pretty similar but not with specific hospitals, it's more about personal and areas reductions (that brings many problems as well)...

  30. Where I'm from, there is the same problem. Maternity hospitals exist only in bigger towns. Are women who don't live in big towns less worthy of proper medical care? It is unjust and terrible. Kudos to the firefighters, they did a great job but it is really a job of a doctor. You did right to write a letter.

Fantastic styling. You're ever stylish and you won't allow even clutches to slow you down. You look great!

  33. That sounds pretty terrible! It's true that sometimes there is no choice, but when it's due to the fact that there simply aren't enough hospitals, that definitely seems like it could've been avoided ( at least some of the time). Your posts are always so interesting.

  35. This is shocking news to me! I didn't know Portugal is shutting down maternity hospitals! That's outrageous. Your post made me pause and think and the one you mentioned about imagining having a prostrate probe done on the highway by general ambulance volunteer/firefighter made me chuckle! You are really something else, Marisa! Why be Greta, when you can be full YOU! Love the outfit and your attitude. You know you are such an inspiring woman to me! Keep pestering the president please! :D xoxo
