The Looks of the Week #108

Olá, bem-vindos a mais um fabuloso post dos Looks da Semana!  Esta semana, fomos surpreendidos por um fenómeno incomum: Enquanto os termómetros subiam até aos 30ºC, o sol escondeu-se atrás de uma densa poeira vinda do deserto do Saara, em África. Além disso, as poeiras do deserto não se limitaram ao céu, elas infiltraram-se por todo o lado, cobriram carros com uma película castanha, os vidros das casas idem, idem, já nem falando nos malefícios para quem sofre de problemas respiratórios!. Este fenómeno não é apenas uma ocorrência isolada, é um indicador das mudanças em curso no nosso clima. Os ventos que trouxeram as poeiras de outro continente podem ter sido influenciadas pelas alterações climáticas globais, consequência da actividade humana e de como interagimos com o mundo natural. Estas fotos mostram que ainda pareça que vai chover, está de facto um tempo quente, o sol apenas se deixou de ver! E, vocês nos vossos países também têm notado ocorrências climáticas fora do normal??

Hello and welcome to another fabulous Looks of the Week post!  This week, we were surprised by an unusual phenomenon: while thermometers soared to 30ºC, the sun hid behind a dense dust from the Sahara desert in Africa. What's more, the desert dust wasn't confined to the sky, it seeped in everywhere, covering cars with a brown film, the windows of houses ditto, ditto, not to mention the harm to those suffering from respiratory problems! This phenomenon is not just an isolated occurrence, it is an indicator of the changes taking place in our climate. The winds that brought the dust from another continent may have been influenced by global climate change, a consequence of human activity and how we interact with the natural world. These photos show that even though it looks like it's going to rain, it's actually warm weather, the sun has just gone out because of the dust!
