Look Nº 507 - Amazon Explorer!

When coming from OPorto for another appointment, we stopped in a small town where there is a very beautiful square that has a statue of an Amazon conqueror - Pedro Teixeira.

Já no carro a minha mãe diz-me isto:
Desatei a rir!!! E, respondi:
- Daaaaaa!!!

When we were close to this square, I said to my mother:
- Shall we take pictures in that square where the Amazon explorer is?
We stopped and, I went, not to the statue, but to this beautiful and exotic pine tree. We took the photos quickly, as it was very cold. In the car, my mother tells me this:
- I had no idea that that pine tree was called "Amazon explorer", how did you know the name?
I burst out laughing !!! And I replied:
- It's not the pine tree that is called Amazon explorer, it's the statue of Pedro Teixeira, Amazon conqueror and, illustrious son of this city of Cantanhede!!

You can see this statue here in a photo that belongs to the blog archive.

In 1607 Pedro Teixeira went to Brazil, where he would distinguish himself in the expulsion of the French from Maranhão and in the command of the Portuguese against the attempts of Dutch and English occupation. By going up the Amazon River from the mouth to Quito, he contributed decisively to the definition of the Brazil territory, the largest country in Latin America and the only one in this continent that has Portuguese as its official language.

Now I present to you my mother's Amazon explorer, this beautiful pine tree and, tell me, did the photos not look beautiful? Although I am not in the Amazon ahahhahah !!!
