Curiosos?
For this
post I had to leave Coimbra and go to Lamego (Portuguese town located in
the Douro demarcated region - Port Wine), more specifically to the
Sanctuary of Our Lady of Remedies. Because I
had promised to tell you a story about Portuguese wall tiles and, as I said,
these are some of the most original and distinctive productions of
Portuguese culture. But I just changed my mind and
I will not tell you the story of these tiles, so you have to wait for another post! these tiles represent scenes from the Virgin
Mary life. But I want to tell you another story. Are you curious?
Disse-lhe
palavra "Saudade".
Last week I
was contacted by email from a Malaysian person who, knowing that I was
Portuguese, asked me to explain what the Portuguese sentence meant "Tenho saudades tuas". I told the person that in a English fast translation would be "I miss you", but in Portuguese meant a lot more than that !!! To explain the meaning of the sentence, first I would have to explain to him what the word "Saudade" meant.
pessoa/lugar/coisa outra vez. Perceberam?
"Saudade"
is a word strongly linked to Portuguese culture and history, it's one
of the most difficult words to translate into other languages, and most
of them have no translation for it. According to a legend,
not according to linguistics experts, "Saudade" was the feeling of
melancholy that the Portuguese who had gone to Brazil and to India at the time of the Portuguese Discoveries (15th century), , felt for being
alone and distant from their loved ones. And according to a great Portuguese Language specialist:
"[SAUDADE] is the remembrance of having lived/enjoyed in past times, that never return; the pain of not living/enjoy them in the present, or only reliving in their memory; and
the desire and hope that in the future return to the old state of happiness.
"In other words, it's what is felt by the absence / disappearance /
deprivation / distance of someone / place / times / things to which we
were affectively connected and at the same time to wish to have / to live in the present this same person / place / thing again. Got it?
But why I came here to tell you this story, precisely in Our Lady of Remedies? To
tell you that I also feel "saudade", not referring me to a past time,
that I want to return to live in the present, but I feel "saudade" from
the future. I feel "saudade" from a future without hospitals, without doctors, without analysis, without appointements,
without exams and most especially without aggressive treatments. That's that kind of "saudade" that I feel and, that's why I'm here at Our Lady of Remedies maybe she feels touched by my so noble Portuguese feeling!!!
E agora percebem o que significa a palavra Saudade?
Percebem o que significa a frase portuguesa "tenho saudades tuas"? E
And now, do you understood what the word "Saudade" means? Do you understood what the Portuguese sentence means "Tenho saudades tuas"? And do you understood what it means to feel "Saudade" from the future? That's what I feel!!! Do you understand now that you only say "Tenho saudades tuas" to whom you like /love /desire very much? Did you understood everything? Tell me everything in the comments, I'll love to read !!! If you didn't understood I have to make another more elucidative post, OMG!!!
At the end of the post I put a song from the most international Portuguese singer Mariza,

Mariza - Saudade Solta
She says
that she will plant Saudade in her garden and she knows that someday
singing Saudade something will be born, if sadness she sowed, joy she will
reap.
New days will come with other happy memories and the wind that bends her will not break her roots and thus singing the Saudade hope in her will never end.

I decided
to join me to the 1+3 challenge created by Carolina Nelas - Thirteen -
which consists of the following: who decides to join to this challenge has to inspire, at least three persons, to stop, think and be more
self-conscious, reflecting on themselves and the world that surrounds us, I think I already do this. Several
topics have already been released, sorry for this post delaying but I have so many things to do every day!! I decided to write about the "One Piece of Clothing" challenge. It consists of telling the story of the clothes that has been relevant in my life. So join me!!!
In
this photo I would have been 4/5 years old, it was taken at
Carnival, I loved dressing me up in several characters, in
this case of Sevillana, but I was also The Lady of Camellias, a Nazaré woman (portuguese city), whatelse!!! It's explained why I like to play characters!!! But
the most curious of this photo is that I am a Sevillian woman in portuguese style ahahha, if you notice I have a Minho scarf (tradicional portuguese scarf) with a Spanish dress ahahah
and, I swear that my hands position is very childlike innocence, I
am not sending subliminally messages to anyone ahahahha !!! If you notice I'm wearing boots, for years I wore orthopedic boots because I had a flat feet and I was always falling!!! I can say that without belonging to a wealthy family, I was a very happy child until ... at age 8. I
witnessed the tragic death of my grandmother who I loved so much, it was in
1980, Portugal had emerged a few years ago from a dictatorship that had
isolated us from the world. It
was a custom with the death of loved ones that people dressed in black
for years, my family dressed me for months in black with little white polka
dots. Now you see why I don't like this fashion trend and I have just a few pieces of black clothing. It was a childhood trauma, I had already said that one day I would tell you the story here on the blog, because I had aversion to this tendency. Here is the truth !!!
This is my dress of my Solemn Communion, it was chosen by me and marked the end of my mourning. It was bought in Coimbra in one of downtown stores,I keep it until today. !! During the celebration I did a reading, I can say it was a special day!
In this photo I was 18 years old and had just learned that I was admitted to the university. As
you can see the fashion is cyclical, I'm wearing a top, which
today we call the crop top, it was made by my mother, and culottes
that are currently a trend and, you know what brand they were? From
Fétal, a Portuguese clothing brand of great success, until ...
appears the Spanish Zara who was responsible for the bankruptcy of this
Portuguese company.Who in Portugal never had a Fétal clothing?
When I took
this picture I was 33 years old, and to prove that I keep all my
clothes, these jeans are from Salsa and I used them recently in this
post - The Ribbon Burning - and I used the bag in the post here. At the moment I am even thinner than in this photo, the jeans I have to wear them with a belt, which makes me very concerned !!
In this picture it should have been about 36 years old and I wanted to be a platinum blonde like Marilyn Monroe !! I
chose this photo not so much for the clothes but for being a selfie when the world still didn't know what a selfie was. As you can see I'm always one step ahead of time ahahah !!! I loved this dress, it's from the Portuguese brand Lanidor and now it's my mother who wears it !!

You
know I have a blog reader that is a mystery to me and so I decided to
dedicate him a post that is once again a 2 in 1. Two subjects, one post !!! So
let's start with this reader, he's located on a point on the globe that
I can not identify, it's not a continent, it could be an island, but
I've been investigating and there's no island in that part of the
globe. I thought it might be someone on a cruise, but for that area there are no cruises, besides he doesn't move. He is at a fixed point in the middle of the ocean. And he's constantly watching the blog. But I caught him !!!
É o que me pergunto.
Então o meu nervoso miudinho começou a
Think with me, what this could be? I remembered that it could be someone on an oil platform, but I don't know if oil is extracted in that area !!! But is anyone on an oil plataform interested in a fashion blog? That's what I wonder. Do you have any idea what that might be? About a month from now I stopped seeing him, could he be on vacation? Do you have any idea what this might be? Then I felt the prickles starting all over my head and began to tell me that I had to make a post about this unknown location.
That's where am I!!! This beautiful place is unknown to most people, I can say that it's somewhere in the Coimbra district (shhhiu don't say anything to anyone but this is private property and we passed the fence that was cut, but I swear it wasn't us !!!). Of course, in order to go to this place we had to take a guide, we left the car on the road and had to walk more than 1km, along paths full of obstacles, stones, sometimes we went up sometimes we went down, there were brambles, many, that grabbed my dress, in some obstacles we had to help each other, but my goal was always to move on and win the mountain, to give up was never in my mind, as Sisyphus went up and went down the mountain several times pushing a huge stone and all this routine had a meaning. Building a temple at the top of the mountain!

Building a temple at the top of the mountain!
venci a minha montanha e, avistei o meu Templo, a minha lagoa verde!!!
A descida
montanha? Já viram algo que mais ninguém viu? Contem-me tudo nos
comentários vou adorar ler!!
No final do post deixo algumas regras para subirem a montanha, basta clicarem!!!
And, like Sisyphus, I had to reach that goal, I had to climb my Everest !!! And I succeeded, after a long and troubled path I conquered my mountain and I saw my Temple, my green lagoon!!! And, now I'm on top of (my) world with a smile like those who saw what no one else could see !! In an unknown location !! The
way down the mountain wasn't easy either, we got lost in the way, but
it's natural, we don't always understand it and sometimes we distract
ourselves with small details, it's part of life, we walked around until
finally we find the right track !!! We promised that for the next year we will go back there and get our feet wet in the green lagoon !!! And you have already reached your mountain? Have you seen something that no one else has seen? Tell me everything in the comments I'll love to read !!
At the end of the post I leave some rules to go up the mountain, just click !!!

There is a
question I have asked here in the blog several times, and for which you have not answered me yet. So I took inspiration from a
Portuguese writer, Jesuit priest, whose best known literary work is the "Sermon to the Fishes" by Father António Vieira - in this work this Father uses fishes as a metaphor for the men of his time (1654). He
intended with this sermon to defend the rights of indigenous peoples
(Brazilians), opposing himself to the enslavement to which they were subjected by
the Portuguese settlers. He thus obtained from the
Portuguese King laws that guaranteed basic rights that protected them
from the exploitation of white settlers.
A pergunta
respondam.
As much as I preach my sermon to my beloved little fishies here on the blog, I admit that I haven't the success of this Father. The
question that I want to be answered and that I have already put it in
several ways and, I confess that this is my last attempt, is as follows. But wait just a little bit, because I'm going to talk about another subject before asking the question. But it's to you understand exactly what I want to be answered.
a criança nasce a meio do caminho!!!
autoestrada 17 (A17).
In Portugal due to the low birth rate and also for economic reasons many maternity wards were closed. Hospitals in many cities have stopped providing this service, which has been concentrated in bigger cities. What
often happens is that the birth of a child sometimes precipitates and
the birth that was scheduled for a certain date ends up happening
before. When
the woman goes into labor before the scheduled date, an ambulance is
usually called to transport her, this ambulance is conducted by two
firefighters (some volunteers) who have the duty of leading the lady to
the nearest maternity ward, who often is more than 100Km or even 200Km. As
there are very rush children to be born, what happens is that the
firemen have to stop the ambulance and themselves without any
preparation, end up doing / assisting in labor and, the child being born
half way! Seriously this happens in Portugal, I myself know a child who was born at Km 25 of highway 17 (A17).
fariam?
What I ask you is this, if you, my dear little fishes, if you were one of those firemen, what would you do? Do you run away and not helping the parturient? Do you offer your help even though you're not prepared for that kind of situation? What would you do? I don't want to know your answer to this question, my answer I know what it would be and this to me is more than obvious. What
I want you to answer is the following, in a limit situation, if you had
to choose between saving the life of a person, and for this having to sacrifice the
life of an animal, what would you do?
Não me venham
curiosidade!!!
I put the question in another way. If a person's survival depended on the death of an animal, for whom would your heart choose? Please don't come up with the answer "and why not save both". I'm asking a limit question, or choose one or the other !! For whom did your heart have compassion? For the person or the animal? This is the answer that I want you to find in your heart!!! Don't come with the crap that the person had other alternatives. This is a limiting issue !!! And
I need to know your answer just to understand the future of mankind
and by what paths it moves on and if someday we will be served as a
gourmet meal for a big fish! Sorry for the size of this, but this is a sermon, right? I don't know if I will be successful as the Jesuit priest was !!! Now tell me your answer, in the comments, I'm dying of curiosity !!!

A Rainha Santa Isabel.
As I said
here I'm not monarchical, but Portugal was a monarchy until 1910. I don't renege my country's history, in fact I'm proud of it, even when ruled by kings and queens. Many of them men and women of great bravery that made Portugal the world's biggest power together with Spain (century XV). I even wonder, looking to my country today, where are the genes of these people? Where is this genetic inheritance? The "Kings" who govern us today are nothing more than cursed
and subservient vassals of banking sector and great interests, often obscure,
currently in Portugal we don't live in Democracy, but in a blind Fiscal
Dictatorship that confiscates, stripped of, spoil and robs his people.Do you see what I am getting at !! I
want to talk about a personality of the Portuguese history who dedicated
his life to charity and the poor ones, in short ... to her
people !! The Queen St. Isabel.
For
her great work and legacy is the patron saint of Coimbra
that pays tribute to her for a week, and the 4th of July is the city's
holiday, the day of her memory. The people in
gratitude worshipping her and she was canonized in 1625. A Confraternity was created -
The Confraternity of the Queen St. Isabel - this is one of the
oldest in the country, it organizes all religious ceremonies, liturgical
acts in her memory. This confraternity counts on the
participation of the anonymous people, members of the royal family,
University personalities, politicians and important figures of
the Portuguese society. Giving continuity to her social work.
Gostaram do meu look? Contem-me tudo nos comentários, vou adorar ler!!
One of his most well-known miracles, and which I have already mentioned here, is the Miracle of the Roses. In that the Holy Queen when bringing bread for the poor turned it into roses when she was questioned by her husband. During the procession there are people who dress as Queen Saint from adults to children. For having been such a noble figure in her acts, I also wanted to honor her memory! And I tried to recreate a Queen Elizabeth of modern times, with this Kimono embroidered with roses! The local commerce in the streets where the procession passes recreate its storefronts in her honor (I show some in the photos). What do you think about my tribute? Did you like my look?Tell me everything in the comments, I'll love to read !!
