Look nº 392 - Desert Rose!

Shame on me!! Mas enganei-me.

I dream of gardens in the desert sand

As I read blogs about literature, today we are going to talk about books. Shame on me !! I confess I don't read a book for a long time. I read mostly and, on many subjects, on the internet. The last book I read was Salman Rushdie's Shalimar The Clown, I was curious to find out what his writing was like, I initially thought I would not be able to read the book. But I was wrong. I read it in a few days. It's a good story that makes us think.
That's me, I know that!). Qualquer semelhança com o que se passa, hoje, numa outra zona do globo é pura coincidência, same old, same old story!!

We have to decode in relations between people the political conflict between two countries. Making us see that sometimes, out of love, we are capable of the best things and, out of hatred, we are capable of the worst. About finding that we are right and that others are wrong (That's me, I know that!). And of what we are capable to do moved by love and by  hate. The portrait of a paradise on Earth and how politicians ripped appart the lives of those caught in the middle of the conflict. Any resemblance to another part of the globe, today, is pure coincidence, same old, same old story! The end of the story is an open ending. The author leaves to our consciousness / or to the masters of the world, to end the history. I don't like this kind of ending, I like to know the whole story. I don't like to think about what the author has left for us to think about, and on this subject, in what remains unsaid, I have another post prepared.

But, I'm not talking about this book not by coincidence, I also feel myself like an open end, crossing the desert. On the 20th I will know, not everything, but some exams results that I did recently, I feel my life in suspense. With an open end, not knowing what I will find at the end of this crossing. Will I find my oasis so desired,  here the oasis is full of meanings, I perspective myself in space and time, what we were, what we are, and what will remain as our memory.

This is another multimedia post, inspired by the Journey through the history of UC (University of Coimbra), I leave you a short video that inspired me, you can see that part of the images were projected on the walls of the Joanina Library - one of the richest European libraries.

As we are talking about books I leave you an excerpt from one book witch touches me:

"I want all this marked in my body when I die, I believe in this cartography - when it's the nature that marks us, instead of just inscribing our name on a map, like the names of the rich people on the buildings walls. We are not slaves or monogamists in our tastes or experiences, I just wished for a walk through such a land where there were no maps. "
The English Patient by Michael Ondaatje

This way she moves in the logic of all my dreams
This fire burns
I realise that nothing's as it seems
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in pain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

At the end I leave you a song, Desert Rose, whose video and lyrics inspired this entire post, text and photos. Sting sings, an author / writer of beautiful inspirational lyrics. I hope you like it as much as I do!
This way she moves in the logic of all my dreams
This fire burns
I realise that nothing's as it seems
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in pain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand

  23. I hope you get the results you're hoping for. I'm the opposite in that I like open-ended books. Sometimes I think whatever ending the author comes up with would destroy the beauty of the story.

Your dress is beautiful. The color really suits you.

  25. Hi Marisa! The dress is stunning, so beautiful! And ooohh I love this song by Sting ^^ About the book, it seems interesting, I think I'd enjoy it even though I don't like open endings either, everytime I watch a movie or read a book with an open end I'm like "What? But what's next?? I need to know what happens next!"

  40. I really like this song too, in general Sting has so many amazing songs ;) Moreover, I also think that open endings aren't good idea to end the book, because the same like you, I really like to know what happened next. When it comes to your dress you have to know that it's terrific, I wouldn't guees that it's from dresslily, what a great and vivid color and this ruffle is just WOW <3
